Nobody wants to work for Chitwood
The latest puff piece by the DBNJ on Chitwood clearly shows nobody wants to work for this imbecile. Now Chitwood (along with the School Board) is going to use "guardians" in middle schools.
First he used the GS4 company for courthouse security (due to nobody wanting to work for him). Now he is using low costs guardians for elementary security.
When most counties in Florida are looking to strengthen security to protect our children after the Parkland massacre Chitwood (and the School board) think lessening the security and safety of our children is the path to take.
Chitwood is an absolute joke.

So Chitwood might be a joke. But his actions are anything but funny. In fact, they’re making our residents, our deputies and now, our school children and school staff, less safe. Name-calling and bullying and vindictiveness and endless self-promotion and sparking frequent public squabbles are one thing. But actions like cutting corners on training, over-emphasizing the guardian mentality in the face of deadly threats, replacing armed courthouse deputies with private security and now this latest outrage, reducing the level of security in our schools, are downright scary and have the very real potential to get someone killed. It’s true that while Sheriff, Ben Johnson reduced the number of school resource deputies. But that was a painful, yet necessary decision prompted by the need to cut 10 percent of the sworn workforce due to the decrease in revenue precipitated by the Great Recession. Chitwood’s situation is quite different. He’s making further cuts in the school resource deputy program to shift those deputies to other assignments because of the Chitwood’s inability to fill patrol and courthouse vacancies through the traditional recruitment and hiring process. And that’s a symptom of the larger problem: He’s such an awful Sheriff that no one wants to work for him. Chitwood must go in 2020!

Good point. It is already proven how Chitwood will hammer somebody for expressing a negative opinion. And even President Trump uses/has used a fake name.

And a name has what to do with a factually based discussion on an anonymous thread? Why not offer some arguement to the issues instead of attacking a poster. Seems to be the Chitwood regime way. Try arguing the facts first, instead of attempting to discredit the poster. You've only figured out that "Jack" is very disturbed by GS4, immigration issues and also guardians. He has a right to be passionate about our children's safety and the lack of employees available to protect our community. Argue the facts, not the individual commenting

Here is the quote from the News Journal:
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood asked the school district in the fall to try the pilot program, which will be evaluated again at the end of the school year after the guardians are at middle schools for about two months.
“It’s an idea that I floated by the School Board because we have such a hard time getting school resource deputies,” Chitwood said. “Not every deputy wants to be a school resource deputy. It’s a special skill set.”
Chitwood said the resource deputies are needed to staff Volusia courthouses and cover patrols. But he considers it a win-win for the school district, as well, because of the cost difference.
Is Chitwood lying? Did the DBNJ misquote him? Fingers are pointing right at Chitwood.....according to both Chitwood and the DBNJ.

Don't let the facts get in your way CNN....chitwood news network. The article indicates it was Chitwoods idea. Of course if there is backlash he will blame it on the School Board. Kind of like when he fired Szabo. There was no mention of any legal advisor. When Szabo smoked him during the improper firing settlement what did Chitwood do? Blame it on the legal advisor.
