It's OK Bob. We all know how desperate you are to salvage your political career. Latvala's coat tails aren't there any more, Desantis is going to can Israel as soon as he takes office making you look more like the idiot you are and if Drejke is convicted you look like a moron for not arresting him. As soon as you saw who it was you couldn't wait to can him and taint the case. You would sell out mother Teresa for votes.

The other poster has this right. No violations observed or suspected prior to exiting the car. The other big issue of not being compensated at all until you are called out but cant go out of town etc, is restricting your freedom and has been abused for years. If everybody in this Agency could not drink, go out of town, etc on their days off without COC permission you would see the problem. This is a age old problem with suicides and addictions in Law Enforcement. We are expected to be perfect and if you come forward for help, you could lose your job, so you roll the dice, and lose your job. Either way your issue still wont be addressed, but now you wont have a job or benefits. A no win situation to be in.

This is why you don’t volunteer to work in CID and CED. You don’t get compensated and you are restricted to their rules. Plus, you get paid less than patrol. Remember, no one forced you to work there. Most of the guys in CID and CED have wrecked family life’s. I know a bunch of them with divorces, alcohol problems, and the wives and ex-wives hate them along with their kids. One CID sergeant told me if you are married with children, don’t come here. It’s agency first and family a distance second.

Alway put yourself and family first, the job is just a job. Nobody at work cares about you or is willing to back you up when you need it the most.

Why feel bad for this drunk? You know he is routinely drunk , not just this “one time”. He was hired with a dui on his record, he was arrest as a deputy at this agency for domestic, got a big break and now this ... made his own bed ... well you know the rest...

If you have a drug or alcohol problem, you probably shouldn’t be involved or working at a job with high stress. It’s bad enough being a law enforcement with stress, but you choose to be a homoicide detective. In this case, George being an alcoholic, he should have never went to CID. Maybe if he stayed in patrol, he would’ve have been in this mess. But maybe he shouldn’t have been in this profession. Pick something with less stress. This job isn’t for everyone.
