Chief’s Misguided Policy

Because the Chief implemented a Bean bag policy to use less lethal weapon, a delayed police response allowed a white male who was armed with a knife threatening to stab children and adults at the park at 2nd and Ocean Drive, to flee the area. Police response was held by a new Lieutenant and an incompetent Captain, as they requested a Sergeant with a Beanbag shotgun to respond.
The suspect was not captured.
Thanks to our Chief’s new policy, a dangerous criminal got away.
No critical incident report was generated. Sounds like they did not want the City Manager to know about the incident.

Please get your facts straight.
The subject with the boxcutter was captured. This was apparently so serious that not one alleged victim bothered to stick around. Not every call needs a Special Incident. Do you feel this was a cover up? Would you like to be the one to blow the Whistle?

I am continually amaized at how scared our command staff is during every event. They display full panic mode every time we have an event. Lighten up guys and at least look like you have things under control. We got what we wanted a good crowd of visitors no bill skips no stampede no stabbings. Wow what a difference when the venue is catered to a civil group of people. But yet the command staff was scared the whole time. Praying they were not the one in charge if there was a incident. If you keep the event venue slated away from the savages things will be fine. This week was a classic example
