Another One Takes His Own Life

In 2017 140 officers killed themselves vs 129 that were killed by assailants. There have been multiple PCSO suicides over the last couple of years. Yet Sheriff Gualtieri continues to look the other way as if nothing is wrong.

**** off, punk. Someone kills themselves and you come on here to gloat and push your anti-LEO agenda. Just **** you. You want to do something humane and good? Reach out to the deputy's family and express sincere condolences. See how you can help them out in their time of need. How about this, asshole, attend the memorial service and pay your respects like a man. You want to bad mouth the sheriff, then why don't you show real leadership and do the things that real leaders do in a time of tragedy and crisis. Or you can mouth off here and grandstand on the internet, you little puss boy. Guessing you're going with options #2, per usual, you sheep ****er.

I’m not commenting here to be a **** but just trying to shed light on the subject and a reminder.. the family of the victims of suicide suffer financially because death benefits are not paid out to Those that commit suicide. Most all life insurance policies will not pay out. What a shame.

Skipping past your delusional rant... what has Sheriff Gualtieri done since Borland's suicide? Anything? What will he do to help the next deputy at the end of their rope? Same as he did for Felipez? He will buy vests, protective shields, even armored personnel carriers to prevent deputies from being shot when suicide is a greater threat. It's a legitimate question. What has Gualtieri done?

One way to better keep the readiness of deputies mental health is to require a annuall psychological exam. Just a formal, confidential quick check up with a licensed professional. Why only in the hiring process is the psychological exam used? Through the course of a career a law enforcement officer is exposed to it all. And clearly it’s a possibility their mental health status may be effected. We need to stay physically fit with yearly physical agility tests, why not yearly psychological check ups? Even if it saves one deputy who is on the ropes with mental hardships , it is worth it.

Hate to bring up he who shall not be named, but that is one of the changes he has claimed he will make in the last election, but every two years on a rotational basis. It was something that stuck out to me as making sense. By doing it for everybody, it erases the stigma associated with only a selected few being chosen or ordered to do so or prevents them from having to come forward for help on their own. Plus it would help identify a whole host of other issues that could cause problems for the officer or the agency and keeps them from getting the this same point.

Where is mod 1 at? This thread should be removed. Using a Leo suicide for political agenda is the sign of a egomaniacal personality. See I didn’t mention the person name who we alllll know wrote the shit

I’ll bite in your hook of BS. What should he do? We have access to free counseling via EAP. We have access to CISM members 24/7. We have insurance that gives us access to a wide array of psych services. What else can he do? This is not new to PCSO or law enforcement. We had three in one year under Rice. Should we screen each deputy every six months? You think that will matter? If someone wants to check out they will check out. It’s sad but true. But blaming the sheriff for not doing anything about something common to law enforcement is just something ignorant. What’s he supposed to do, catch bullets? Maybe he can magically predict who is thinking about it. Because would be the last person I thought would. You’re a ****ing idiot. You should hit yourself in the face with a bag of hammers. Real hard.

And what happens when someone seeks counseling through EAP? What happens to their career after that. The rumors in the halls, etc. What happens when someone speaks to CISM? Same thing. Plus they are ridiculed for not being able to handle it. It's bullshit and we all know it. Sure, there are "services" but you better not ask for them or you know what will happen next. So if these services were so great, why did none of these deputies avail themselves? We all know the answer to that one.
