The cost of illegal immigration - Mexico Mike Chitwood.
I wonder how our immigrant loving Sheriff..."Mexico Mike" Chitwood feels about the officer in California being murdered by an illegal immigrant. I hope the illegal immigrants do not feel "marginalized" Mexico Mike. You views about illegal immigration are a disgrace to law abiding citizens and to law enforcement officers everywhere. You should be ashamed.

Chitwood must be saying his prayers that there is no longer a "weed and Seed" at Spring Hill or the really active BCR on A1A. Of course that ended up hammering blacks. And they were here legally. So he probably could care less. Now if there was something like the Catfish festival...no VCSO. There is a chance of an illegal immigrant getting a ticket.

While this statement is technically correct in wording, it is not totally accurate. While Florida has no law making it illegal to enter the state, it is still illegal to enter the United States illegally. That does pose a moral issue for an elected official that wants votes of the people that hire the illegals. A Law Enforcement Officer is supposed to be bound to uphold ALL laws and ordinances of the locale, state and nation. This can be just as simple as a report to ICE (which I have done a lot of and it is really pretty simple), whether or not they follow up is on them. Of course, if they do follow up then they will remove the illegals and then the employers will be upset and you could lose votes - I digress.....
The Sheriff is supposed to protect the citizens and residents of Volusia County. He was elected to head the agency that is responsible for the County's Law Enforcement to unincorporated areas, coordination of resources and provide support to local agencies. By allowing illegal immigrants to live in the area without any type of enforcement fear, he is violating his oath of office and the laws of Florida by not reporting illegal activity. This is all about his garnering support by the business owners that hire illegals (which he knows about, whoops another violation) and the Deputies not being encouraged to report the "breaking" of Federal Law. So, a more detailed question is - Can Deputy Sheriff's enforce all laws within the State of Florida? As far as arresting illegals, they are not arrested they are placed on a detainer. There are procedures in place for local agencies contacting Federal violations. The Sheriff just chooses to ignore them so he can get votes.
A cliff notes version of the entire picture, but sums up my opinion. All about votes and screw the public, hope nothing happens to a legal citizen and count the votes. No negative news = no worries.
Of course, the staff will do whatever he says to keep their jobs and suck up to move up. After all, most have had their spines removed a long time ago. The ones that haven't, have to stay low to make retirement and get the hell out (or pray that it changes, which it won't because of the suck ups).

Ben Johnson had deputies enforcing all the laws in all parts of the county. no sanctuary areas of the county. it is a sad state of affairs in different parts of the county now for legal citizens.
BRING BACK BEN.
