The current sheriff is "Scott Israel,” the embattled, failed leader who won election in 2016. ******** began his career with the NYPD in 1983 and retired after being shot in 1997 after running in to save a woman being held hostage by an armed gunman ultimately killing the suspect. He has served in many capacities, including as an NYPD Detective 1st Grade, a Sheriff’s Narcotics Commander, (3) term Sheriff, Superintendent of Police, Chief of Police and a Police Commissioner.

This guy has a $600,000 dollar war chest amassed and believes Israel is a failed leader that takes no responsibility. ******** ran at 82% in all his elections and is well liked by the communities he’s served

******** has been afforded many opportunities to learn, to grow and to develop himself as a leader in the law enforcement profession. When elected to serve as the next Sheriff, he will use those skills to build on the successes of his past leaders and mentors to rebuild BSO for the fine men and women that are so deserving and develop new 21st Century Policing strategies to enhance the safety of the County’s citizens.

You cannot collect one dollar before filing your campaign paperwork. The only two running so far are Vazquez and Rosenthal. They have raised a combined total of under $4,000. Also, was the former Deputy Director of the New York, New Jersey Port Authority. He’s a complete Badass, and has always been highly respected by the members. Completely against body cameras. The entire Fort Lauderdale Command Staff, including the Sheriff, can’t shine this guy’s shoes!!!
