Warning Chief is Running for City Commissioner!
Destephan will be fired by the end of the month.
Check out these Tweets!
Today I met the Police Chief of the City of Miami, Chief Colina, who came to brief the consulate about the anti-Semitic incident published this weekend which involved an officer from the city police department.
Chief Colina apologized on behalf of the department and assured that there is ZERO tolerance for anti-Semitism and any kind of racism or bigotry in the police force.
He promised that the investigation process of the incident will be swift
As CG of Israel, I was satisfied to see the reaction of the Chief. The relationship between the Jewish communities and the police force is vital to our safety & security. We should not allow any kind of racism to undermine the trust we have in the men and women in uniform

Do you honestly think they are going to pass the 180 days period in this investigation? Not
This is a hot potato

Colina shows leadership
Now this is what a leader does. But how many hits should a chief take on behalf of flawed Indians?
Wow. Chief, nice clean up once again.

Cognitive biases
Look, we know that after-action reviews can be a powerful learning moment.
That said, chief still need to make a decision on the action itself. And this is the pressure point.
Some decisions are easily cleaned up, some have polarizing effect.
Alot goes into the outcome decision of a review.
What we need to be careful of in decision making is bias....
Many types exist but one that sticks out the most on here is confirmation bias . It's one if the most prevelant we face and it is loud on here. It is the tendency to gather and rely on information that confirms existing views and to avoid or downplay information that disconfirms preexisting hypotheses.
So, basically this board plays into the examination of views and attitudes toward fellow officers. So what, you say?
It's data folks. Assimilation of data and views within a group form a very complex set of additional bias like overconfidence bias and anchoring biases, etc.
Let me breakdiwn the correlation to it all....
Illusory correlation does refer to the fact that we sometimes jump to conclusions about the relationship between 2 variables when no real relationship exists.
This correlation explains why stereotypes often form and persist and then an anchor gets attached to a fellow officers. We're all guilty of it, it's human nature but we have to ward it off if you want to improve as a whole.
It is very good that a group engages in candid dialogue and vigorous debate but it's important to be mindful of bias as this results in decision traps that cause mistakes in making decisions. As such multiple small decision failures form a chain of events leading to catastrophe. Colina decisions have to perform with remarkable reliability and each occurrence does test this.
