You people are a bunch of dumb m@th3r f&ck3rs. You loose the forest for the trees. It is irrelevant if you like Angelo or not. What you are failing to see is that a new precedent is being set here. A demotion without an investigation and and conclusion. I know many of you don't give a sh!t about that right now because you are not worried about rank, but one day you may and think of that now. I cannot think of any other person that has happened to, even some real f&ckups that got in trouble while on probation. Some received paper or suspension, but no demotions. Think about it boys an girls. It could be you, maybe not for this but who knows what else.

Back in 2001; right after September 11th, when the Nation, Florida and Dade County were in the throes of the anthrax threat crisis, a doltish Hammocks lieutenant, wrote "TO THE TALIBAN" upon a US Mail envelop directed at the Hammocks captain. This caused pandemonium on the district's second floor staff, requiring a full-blown response by Fire Rescue and police personnel. It was a joke, but Carlos Alvarez saw it differently, and immediately demoted the lieutenant to police officer, with corresponding DAR following. After exhausting all appeals and back door pleading for mercy, the former lieutenant remained an officer and was assigned to the Property Bureau. Some commented that such individual was fortunate to retain his employment, for outright dismissal was contemplated.

Unless you have interviewed all parties involved and reviewed the BWC, you (we common folk included) do not have all the facts of the incident. I can think of at least two vastly different reasons why Lt was demoted:
(1) It is helpful for Lt - A demotion would preserve his probation status. By taking him off probation, Lt can sit it out and IA can conduct their investigation without causing a negative impact on Lt's review assessment during the probation period.
(2) It is bad news for Lt - The Lt's action (or lack thereof) during the incident was so egregious it demanded an immediate response by the Director. Don't forget vicarious liability is always applicable.
Either way, based on the information we have today it appears that the Lt still has a chance of regaining his bars.

Can’t think of anyone more worth of a demotion than Juan Perez after he held fundraisers for Gimenez and helped cover up his absentee ballot fraud investigation. Yet, there he is, director at least on paper. Bottom line is and has been politics dictates who gets demoted, written up or promoted. In a department headed by an uneducated Marielito anything can happen.
