    Hiring process

And Community College of The Air Force gives you college credits for what you have done. Check with them to see how many college credits you have. Example, 4 years as a SP gave 29 college credits.

You don’t sound very bright if you’re seriously considering this department over the other ones in the area. Therefore, you are perfect for SPPD and should apply immediately. You can be the next dukeman or eichler. Perfect fit.

There are a lot of reasons to look elsewhere. Do your research on the news stories you can actually find on the agency. Unfortunately it is still dealing with the corruption of G.O. Davis when he was chief. It really set the department back and created a division that will probably continue to take years to fix.

It was widely known that he would fire you for something knowing full well you would be able to get your job back but putting you through the legal process would remind you who you were dealing with. And at the time, Mayor Baker protected him and his cronies. The riot of 1996 became a tool for the likes of chanel and Gordon to use again the mayor and his office. While he and chuckles were there, it was widely understood that Chanel had all the power and Chuckie was just a puppet who occasionally showed his face for a news piece.

When Foster was Mayor there was a glimmer of hope for the city. But his religious convictions came to bite him in the ass and the city was able to reject him for the current soy boy that resides in the office.

An agency will always have issues when they promote based on race, sex, or otherwise. Years ago, you were told you wouldn't get Sergeant stripes unless you personally kissed the a$$ of Sgt. AW. And if you didn't, you'd get passed over enough times you would threaten a lawsuit and then finally be promoted. Who wants to deal with that? There were allegations and evidence of helping certain supervisors like CD to pass promotional exams.

You have street supervisors like Sgt. OS who could literally commit misdemeanors and get nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Lying to command staff. Helping a friend try to avoid hit and run charges. Help a relative try to escape fleeing and eluding charges by making sure officers didn't pursue, etc. Then when you have the watch commander like CW who also covers for this behavior, you don't exactly foster an environment where officers who want to do the right thing wish to stick around.

If you are lucky enough to land in a squad with a sergeant who's main focus isn't on getting promoted and will have your back to the brass, stay there as long as you can. There is a reason a certain small group of sergeants always had a faithful following no matter where they went. But a lot of those have retired or on their way out. The idea is to morph SPPD into a "progressive" agency where the dinosaurs are out and you will get in line with the mayor's vision for the city.
