    Food For Thought

Is a President with ZERO experience what our Union needs?* P.O. offers nothing by way of experience to help our union.* Much less to move it forward.* The President is the face and the talking head of the Union.* City Hall will have a field day with P.O. sitting at the table and not knowing the terminology or the procedures to address important issues.* A President isn't worth a damn when he relies on others on the board to defer the issues to.* The relationships he claims to have established during his two year "assignment" at City Hall are false.* In what was actually a two year "punishment" he may have gotten to know people at City Hall but those relationships are highly suspect.* The people with true "connections" and "relationships" are the one who saved him from a double demotion and got his wife her job back.* * Those same people have helped MANY officers save their jobs over the years....the union saved them through relationships and "experienced" negotiation.* Regardless of your thoughts on those officers getting their jobs back, the fact remains that the union did what they are supposed to do and did it well.* Without concern of who was involved.* It would seem that these are the people you want in your corner if you find yourself in a similar situation.* They thought out a plan and executed it very well on each ocassion.* P.O. however, is a man with an agenda.* He has certain officers in his sights and has every intention to do what he can to exact revenge while the union suffers from his lack of experience and his emotional decision making.* This emotional response to things has been recently exhibited by him coming to roll calls and engaging other supervisors by hurling insults at them in front of subordinate officers.* His recent actions have shown only a lack of professionalism and a disparity toward officers that he has on his list.* By contrast, his opponent has 10 years experience in nearly every aspect of the Union.* 10 years that will be a benefit to us.* Nobody should expect the Union to be a perfect entity.* It surely isn't.* But having P.O. at the helm will steer it in the wrong direction and likely cause it to sink.* Giving passionate speeches in roll call is well and good.* But without substance behind the words, the words are just that....words.* Passion doesn't change things.* Experience does.
