    SWAT Round-up International

So this past week the SWAT competition was held in Orlando. There were 54 agencies competing. Largo came in at #22, Clearwater at #24 and St. Pete at #29. Where did PCSO come in? Oh wait.... They came in at #44, ten spots from the bottom. Car 1 hasn't had any new conferences lately, I wonder if he's going to hold one about this? Next time the Marshals want to call in Pasco SWAT, let them. They came in @ 34.

"Game day"? How many "Game Days" has PCSO SWAT had in the last 5 years? PCSO is the Practice Squad of local SWAT teams!

That's even scarier because it's for real. You play like you practice.

Well, when you pull them out in only the most extreme cases you get little to no field time. It’s not their fault.

The buck stops with Sheriff Bob is it is his fault for having an inept SWAT team. Whoever is directly in charge of SWAT organization and training is obviously incompetent and should be replaced.

44th out of 54 teams is like some small backwoods agency not the largest sheriff's department on the west coast. It is shameful and degrading, bad publicity and promotes lack of public trust in the agency. Any other sheriff would be embarrassed and heads would roll right now. Let's see what Bob does....my guess - nothing. Not surprising really because Bob is not a LEO but a lawyer and a politician.

How much do you figure has been spent so far by Bob to get these results?

Let's try for 35-40th next year. Watch out Dixie, Liberty and Calhoun counties, we are coming for you! We will show those high tech, high spending upstarts what real SWAT is like!

I guess all that money that Bob pays them to go to the gym and work out hasn't really paid off. Maybe they weren't going to the gym and just billing Bob. They couldn't even get over some of the obstacles.

Well I think it’s time to train and field a SWAT Team, not a shiney show pony. This agency pays big bucks to let SWAT have its bullshit SWAT Roundup and SWAT Week and fake SWAT Calls for training. Use it or get rid of it. Maybe stop having SWAT has beens run it and dream it is a Spec Ops Strike Team. Its overhyped and underused. Now we have Robots and Explosive Breaching. Give it a rest. Teach the basics, get used more, stop getting gadgets. They can do the majority of their job with a shotgun and sledgehammer.
