Nobody is worried about how full the SOT classes are. Its after they are cut loose is where the problem starts. Once rookies realize that 99% of what they will be doing for 30 years is nothing but CYA, fear, paranoia, and politically driven social work, and massive amounts of pointless paperwork, and not police work, they will mostly quit after two years once their academy sponsorship is considered paid off. I have personally trained many deputies that have quit and am friends with even more senior deputies that have quit. They all mention the same exact issues. The HCSO refuses to fix those issues. The same issues we mention here and at work. They refuse to listen, so conditions dont change regardless of who leads us from so far away. Front line supervisors are too scared to mention issues in fear of losing that next promotion. The self serving district and division staff are too proud and busy with their own political agenda to care. The the oblivious exectutive staff dont even see the issues or care to see the issues while raking in the big bucks. What a joke. Us pawns and the public are the ones that suffer in the end. Fix the little things up front and everything else the cammand demands for will naturally fall into place. Don't demand loyalty. Earn it.
