He is, and always has been, a disgrace to our agency.

Very true. Which makes me wonder why he got what is a slap on the wrist for punishment.

A month with no pay is no easy punishment. He probably wasn’t demoted or fired because he realized he made a mistake and was remorseful.

Stickels knows that he has his side business to keep him financially solvent. He was not worried about no pay....he was worried about the demotion. Because Stickels is all about himself and thinking he is the ultimate law enforcement officer.

And the detective in me figures that Chitwood is not going to say anything about the side business of Stickels due to Morgan's side business. And neither Morgan nor Stickels has permission for these side businesses.

How do you get that he realized he made a mistake and was remorseful. The end of the IA it has Stickels stating there was no willful violation whatsoever. And also he was stating that he was glad to come in to the IA and clarify things. He also was caught lying about getting out the vehicle.

Stickels is a blow hard who has gotten progressively worse (that has been documented). First the alligator, then the cell phone and now the pursuit where he disobeyed orders. He was not remorseful and did not admit to any mistake.....according to page 17 of the IA.

You forgot the DAVID violations. He should not be employed. He is a loose cannon.

A last chance agreement usually is entered into as part of the disciplinary process with a chronic screw-up when they feel they don’t have quite enough to terminate and know there’s a high probability that the person will screw up again and then they can fire him the next time without risk of being reversed because the employee his forfeited his appeal rights as part of the agreement. In Stickels’ case, if progressive discipline doesn’t apply due to the time between his incidents and engaging in an unauthorized pursuit and disobeying an order isn’t enough to terminate the guy, then lying during the IA without question is a firing offense. I don’t get it….

I don't get it either. Lying is supposed to be the cardinal sin. There is some time from the alligator incident. But the phone incident and this chase (to include the lying) were really close together. Not certain about the DAVID violations.

This is yet another reason why somebody is crazy if they do one thing proactive in their shift. You have bosses that will pen and paper you to death, BWC's that are used against you, public opinion that influences Chitwood, etc. Just not worth it to do anything.

While I agree with you in part, if you are going to do anything, make sure you do it with in the confines of the law and policy. Unfortunately, Stickles doesn’t follow either.
