DSM?? Must be for all those extra hours she works, oh wait, that’s not it. Must be for all those things she does to stay in touch with the officers, hmmm, that’s not it either. Could it be she gets paid a full time salary for working part time hours? Possibly. But my money is on her being the single worst chief in the history of SPD. DSM, give me a break.

Keep telling yourself that. I am not a new or and old officer, but I have been here long enough to see the changes and it is not for thee best. This place only gets worse each day by terrible decisions made from the command staff. Offices are walking on eggshells because of the fear that they might rub someone the wrong way or arrest the wrong person.
If you think the good ole boy system is gone, you are wrong. It's stronger than it's ever been. Unfortunately for a lot of people they are in too deep to leave. But when new officers are leaving and ones that are almost vested are leaving or considering it should tell you something. This place is toxic and is ruining good officers such as JM.
All I can say is if you are a new officer is to fly below the radar get some experience and leave. If you are considering coming here don't. The chief, mayor and commission don't care about you, because it's sad that for the past few years they keep getting raises and they fight for you to not. That should show you where their heart is, it's all about themselves.
If you're thinking of coming here run for the hills

Spd is improving? Since you haven't been around long enough to know wtf you're saying, I guess we should let your ignorance slide. The as you call them "old timers" did more real police work in a night than you'll do in a year.

No matter where you go, you're going to have politics. First, begin with yourself and look outwardly, as if you are a concentric circle.
Regarding pay and benefits: all across the United States, 99% of all corporations have done away with pensions. Working for the government is the absolute last place where you can still get a pension, even if you don't have a 4-year college degree. SPD still has a pension system. Ride the wave.

Dipino thrives on the good ole boy system. I mean have you ever seen a worse command staff? It’s incredible. She doesn’t even try to hide it. She’s surrounded herself with total yes people. Not one of them has a strong personality. Yes chief...your the greatest chief....wonderful idea chief. That’s what she wants. That’s what she got.

Keyboard Commando
It's that way everywhere. Let's use you as an example. Would you surround yourself with people that you don't trust?
Let's put your theory to test. Go up to any one of them in-person and tell them that they are weak minded -- and then let's see how strong or weak they are towards you. But you're not strong or brave enough to do that, are you? LOL
