Out of state certified looking to lateral

4 year LEO here from Indy looking to move. Have some family in Pinellas County and some in Hernando County so ive been looking at agencies like Pinellas SO, Pasco, Tampa, St. Pete, etc.

How is the morale at Pinellas?
What kind of shifts do they work?
What is the residency requirement to get a take-home?

    Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

12 hour shifts with rotation days off.

    Pay and benefits are competitive

Morale?! If you expect more than a steady paycheck, medical insurance and a pension you will be very disappointed.

Our Sheriff (Gualtieri) is on a major political power trip. Promotions depend who you know and blow. If you can kiss a lot of ass you will do great.

It’s a great place to work. Don’t listen to the negativity. They are just slugs, have been disciplined for doing something stupid, or it’s possible that whoever responds is James (nut job). James has a lot of time because he is unemployed and hates deputies so he reads and responds to most posts on this site. He is trying to run for sheriff in 2020 but has NO chance. Good luck with your quest to be a deputy at PCSO if you choose. Best place to work in this area.

Look elsewhere. The place sucks. People will stab you in the back to get a head. Horrible promotions. Find a good PD with a union like Tampa PD. They make a lot.more than us. Much better places to work.

This statement above was made by Bob, our dicckhead Sheriff. He sits up late at night and comes out here and defends his agency because nobody else will. He is also really paranoid about some guy named James, who he always claims is the ONLY one who posts negative things about this agency. Of course, that's not possible. If you follow this site for any period of time you will see this same pattern. People complain about any number of things, Bob comes out and claims it is "James", then tells everybody about how wonderful he is.

Great place to work. Morale is good. The few whiners who post on her and the Sg.20 crazy dude McLynas are just what you find in all places and they are the minority. Sheriff is good to work for and takes care of the people. Great equipment and training. If you do your job you are fine.

Thanks for the replies! I'll probably put in for TPD and Pinellas and see what happens

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri has approved and paid for this message.
