I don't know why uniform gets cheated out of weekend days off. You'd think chiefs would try harder to keep the first line troops happier.

Lol, they don’t give a shit about the road. The road will always be the bottom of the barrel for brass.

A better way so everyone gets a piece of the pie is like hospitals do and a nurse will work one weekend one week then work have off the weekend, a rotating schedule. My wife is a Nurse and this is how they do it. Works well for everyone. For example the dispatchers at communications are stuck like chuck. Seniority rules there and they have no where to go. I understand the whole seniority deal but, should be shared/rotated.

Agreed. An example if you work 6 AM to 2 PM Adding an additional two hours is not gonna hurt and at the end of that week you have an extra day off.

In our agency in palm beach, we work 4/10s with 4 days on and 4 days off. Officer's LOVE the schedule. Many officers get to attend family events without calling out constantly and leaving the road short. Hell, we have officer's with maxed out sick and vacation time because they see no need to use it. And to the employees who may not like it for personal reasons: they signed up for a job that is not a typical 9-5 and deals out a fluctuating schedule. If the department implemented another shift immediately, I bet those same employees would adjust quick! More days off keeps the officers and their families happy.
