Only two reasons to support the death penalty in this case:

1) to give the families a sense of justice
2) it ends the life of this chronically mentally ill CHILD who was abandoned,neglected, abused, rejected, tortured, ignored, used, and for years screaming for help. This sick individual killed 17 people and was blocks away in Coral Springs STILL unnoticed. Is he a monster? Yes he is. He is one of the many molded monsters of the greed of Broward County Public Schools who accept FUNDING for special needs kids as they neglect and fail to supervise kids that have no business anywhere in society without constant supervision. They will accept ANY child; hence a child at MSD today who needs FT deputy to control his compulsion to pull the fire alarm. This recklessness has been supplemented by the administration of the BSO as a cooperative effort to ignore juvenile crime and USE THEIR DEPUTIES to do it. Let's stop tip toeing around the issues. Rank and file who have as much as a pen mark on a case that involves violence or sexual incidents will eventually be individually excoriated by the media. Don't stand in line behind Peterson.

Good points and all is true. One thing thats a major obstacle is the "hostage" situation. Lots of people think that some of these kids don't belong in the public schools. They are correct.

Problem is that the public schools do everything they can to prevent a parent from taking their kid out to go to a private school or home school because they want the funding. The schools will lie to the parents and tell them that the kids are doing great-everything's fine. Case in point: The autistic kid at MSD who has pulled the fire alarm about 5 times already. He needs a level of supervision that they do not have the staff for. Who is babysitting him ? A deputy or guard. The school is raking in the money for this kid but they have no resources of their own to watch him. They will cover up behaviors to keep the kid. This absolutely happened in Cruz situation. Now, the school admin will blame his dead Mother. Guarantee she heard repeatedly that he was "making progress and behavior has improved"

It is not the job of police to babysit school children or participate in hiding criminal activity. The SRO's should file a class action suit against BSO if only on principal.
