    Common sense

People of the HPD rank and file, please please stop asking the city for STUPID STUFF that make no sense and get together and ask for stuff that can benefit all!!!

Example: if we get the same as last contract it’s better than not getting anything for 6 years again!

Example 1: Ask for something realistic such as a 5% for hazardous pay for being a LEO and settle for that which makes your raise a lot better than what you have now and would cover everyone!

Example 2 : Ask for 5% for specialized units including all investigators and that should be enough!

Example 3 : Ask for a yearly contract this way on election years we can get what we want or at least stay status quo!

Example 4 : Ask for one Pay day off for FTO’s when you accumulate a total of 3 months of full time FTO training not including Reserve Officers.

Example 5 : Ask for one extra hour of travel time to court Location N for a total minimum of 5 hours because it is impossible to get to court in the morning and the city is loosing money because of the vast dismissal of cases because officers are late to court on their cases.

Example 6: Let’s look into the take home car program and make the city re issue fleet cars if the motor pool takes more than one week to fix a police car, for example: officer drops off car at motor pool for PM, staff there decides your car has to go to DODGE and after one week “7 days” you still don’t have your car then the PD will have to give you a fleet car to take home until your car is fixed. I’m pretty sure the phone calls to DODGE etc will start to make things happen. Or perhaps persuade our administration to get our overpaid city tire and oil changers to train at DODGE to service our cars in-house at least the ones over the warranty mileage etc.

This examples are realistic stop asking for stupid stuff like an extra percentage for K9 for what? They already get extra pay don’t be ridiculous be realistic and learn how to negotiate with common sense.

People there is a reality here there is really NO money they’re robbing Peter to pay Paul on a regular basis, unfortunately our city government doesn’t see the problem of not raising taxes and utilities for the residents in so many years and this has created a deficit. All they care about is a re-election whenthe time comes and we the employees are the ones that suffer.

Be grateful for what you have NOW trust me it is not bad at all, HPD has one of the top contracts in the South part of the state and definitely in the county, it’s a proven fact; please don’t screw it up asking for impossible stuff and be realistic!.

Everyone needs to stick together “this means everyone patrol, detectives everyone” not the usual 10-15 that sometimes go to the meetings. Have a real meeting with the PBA attorneys and reps, and discuss a real and logic contract before the city decides they will want to steer us into impass then they will have us by the balls, remember they’ve already proven they will do what they feel is best “think insurance” so with that said don’t be crazy asking for bogus stuff.

God bless us all Stay safe......

The PBAbis the problem. They just don’t have the juice to get things done. More so now that Shiver has been made part of the staff. Elected officials and Chief hate Shiver. Stahl is not well liked either.
