JP, why is Special Events managing the overtime School Security Detail? Whom better than the respective districts where the schools are located to do so? As the concept began to take form, each district should have had a list of all schools, chartered, parochial, private and public within the districts service area. Such list should have contained all pertinent details regarding each school; e.g., location, operational hours, floor plans, most expedient internal access ways, the school's own security protocol, school security personnel, staff entrusted with access keys, student body, faculty, administrative, maintenance and general service staff and their respective roles during an active shooter situation. This just to name the most salient points.

Armed with the above cited data and aided by tenured and experienced district School Resource Officers, adequate police deployment could have been made. Doubtless, the district's administrative staff could and should have managed this operation; even its overtime accountability, as it has historically been done with the annual Grinch Busters Detail, for instance. Don't you think? Centralizing such a critical, school safety detail may not be the most effective approach to it. The eyes of the County, the State of Florida; indeed the Nation are on this program. Failure is not an option

Youre an idiot dude, we don't want this mess run at the administrative level of a district, we got enough crap to worry about already, besides school staffing and rules. Special events has the staff and time to do it, let them keep that shit.
