Here is a hypothetical scenario. We already have vets working as deputies, sergeants and lieutenants. If this bill passes, then they could conceivably go to a VA doctor and get a scrip for pot. So after a long shift, then could then go home and fire up a joint (instead of cracking open a beer).

Marijuana should be decriminalized and turned into a civil infraction, just like speeding is a civil infraction, unless the speeder is going 30 mph over the posted speed limit, at which time it then becomes criminal with a mandatory court date. Similarly, if a pot user is caught with a "users-amount" of marijuana, then he would get a ticket; but if someone is caught with a "dealer's-amount" of marijuana, then it becomes criminal with a mandatory court date.

Under the current system, an 18 year old kid can get arrested for having a baggie full of pot -- and then he will have a criminal record following him for the rest of his life -- for pot? Arresting petty users is asinine and is a waste of tax dollars and criminal justice resources.

Speeding is not a crime and neither should be the possession of user-amounts of pot. BTW pot is very very unhealthy, but it's also stupid to criminalize it. Pot should be infractionized, just like a traffic citation.

In a perfect world, if LEO's had a medicinal need, as long as it's not used on duty, along the same lines as alcohol consumption on duty, I would be ok with that.

Harry Anslinger's indoctrinations from the 1930's are clearly, nonsense.
