Talk about getting cheated by the administration. These guys are morons! Why can't we just get something as simple as 12 hours for a holiday? We work 12 hour shifts, not 8 hour shifts, yet we only get 8 hours. So every time we use our holiday hours to take time off we have to use 4 hours of our own time or come in and work 4 hours. How does the administration handle this question, they say if you ask for it again we'll put you back on 8 hour shifts! Guess what, you don't have the manpower to cover two 12 hour shifts, there is no way you can cover three 8 hour shifts.

You are wrong Alpha,Bravo,Charlie 8 hour shifts takes less manpower, scheduled days off based on seniority. Right now we are running 4 shifts , 2 Alpha, 2 Bravo. Take an entire shift and split them among the three shifts and there you have it actually more personnel per shift. 8 hour shifts would be a blessing , make some of these greenhorns have off Tue and Wed. And every shift would have veteran Deputies down to newbees.

The idiot is calling me dense? Ok rookie, sit down and I'll explain in the simplest of ways. We're not running 4 shifts a day, because we don't have 48 hour days. We're running 2 shifts a day since it only takes two 12 hour shifts to cover a 24 hour day, 1 Alpha and 1 Bravo. We do have 4 squads, 2 gold and 2 green. With the 8 hour shifts we were running 3 shifts a day an Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie to cover a 24 hour day, because 3 x 8 =???? Yes 24. I guess the school you went to didn't teach math. Next time use a calculator.

This is one of the densest things I've ever seen anyone post on here, and there have been some pretty epically dumb posts. Nobody should ever let you near a schedule.... ever!
Check your logic: If you have 10 people on each of the 4 shifts that's 40 people total. But if you add a Charlie shift with 8 hr days you would need 14 people on each shift to cover RDO's and maintain the 10 people per shift staffing level. 14×3 is 42.
