Soft people have no place as a member of law enforcement or dispatch for that matter. You need to be tough as you have to be able to deal with all kinds of people and situations. If you get triggered because a trainer uses a red pen on your handwritten test or report how can you deal with certain situations out there that you will see during your career. People do not call the police and need them if they are having a good day. Call takers hear some horrible things and deputies or police officers see it.

I cannot blame those doing the hiring as they most likely have to cater to those above them in the chain of command who may be the ones behind it. Unless proven otherwise.
