Sounds like you folks upstairs are desperate to retain employees!
Apparently the "Like the paint job" campaign did not go well. Here's an idea, stop making up BS and give your deputies a decent contract instead of using scare tactics. Otherwise, they can bail for a better deal in a non-contracted city.

To maintain a decent standard of living in overpriced south Florida a slalary would be well north of six figures. Even topped out deputies aren’t even close to that yet. Years of unions rolling over instead of fighting for decent raises. Ow they increase pension time to thirty years? And take away out of county take home. And we’re supposed to compete for the best candidates? Wtf,

A few more questions:
What salary/increases/benefits/retirement package or type of contract would motivate a deputy with let's say 10 years in to take the leap to a non-contracted independent city? If you personally were considering this option, what would your greatest concern be ?
Please be very, very specific.

To get those kind of deputies it would be difficult. Those are the most knowledgeable best ones you can get. You would have to offer the world. Trim county take homes unlimited fuel personal use vehicles, 100% medical and dental, a fair promotional process void of command with a legit outside testing agency, he best equipment, a strong union, 20 years and out at 80 %, unless you got big bank you’re not going to get those guys. You’re going to have to compete with bso ability to offer overtime and details. To match that I salary your cops need to make 110,000 a year your sgt 150,000 Lt 160,000 captains 180,000 etc etc etc

Sorry tri county take home with personal use. But it’s more than that. You would have to have a pro police community none of the usual tying the hands of the cops. That means supporting your officers in taking down criminals. Those kind of cops want to catch bad guys they don’t want to play politics. It can be done but you’ve got a lot of work and money to spend ahead of you. Best cars best equipment best health insurance. Etc.
