I don't think the Miami officer who wrote the comment to the news could have said it any better. Yet, we all know there will be a regular contingent of BSO deputies (who have no jurisdiction in Miami-Dade County by the way) willing to toss principles aside for for a few bucks at a cheese detail and for the 'glory' of rubbing elbows with millionaire athletes. If the boss had any scruples, the Dolphins detail would be ended, as BSO only has jurisdiction for about 15 minutes of the trip to the stadium. Worse will be during the playoff's or superbowl, when the chosen few are hand-picked to drive players' wives around in NFL leased expensive cars so they can go shopping. I thought policy forbids working as security.

Your boss uses dolphin players for special events and throws the bso stamp of approval on it to get public approval. As far as the deputies who do the escorts, they could care less what you or anyone else thinks because they get money to drive around like maniacs, sirens blaring and as you said getting to rub elbows with the players. If they're lucky enough they may get a momento, like a used soap bar or jock strap.

Aren’t you forgetting the SOD guys who are in plain clothes on the field during the game? It’s not just the guys doing the escorts.

Here's another thought, several of the guys who do the escorts are now working in the schools; for the district. No more adjusting their schedule for the escorts. Also, if I'm them, I've already been shafted, I'm not giving up one of my two days off for an escort. Especially for spoiled millionaires who disrespect me and what I do. I say tell the team bus to leave earlier and make sure they stop for all the red lights.

Amen!!! I agree, let those spoiled millionaires be inconvenienced and have to leave early for their game. So what if they get there early and have to sit around, and who cares if they get there late and don't have time to get pampered before the game. After all their game is a war according to them. The problem is they're not smart enough to realize you can't judge all by the actions of a few. If that were the case nobody would watch football. How many criminals and thugs who have been arrested play professional football, and that's just the charges we know about. Since we all know star football players don't get charged with most of their crimes while in college or the pros. It might take a while, but when the team owners start losing money because revenue is down, hopefully that means salaries will go down. There are consequences for their actions!
