INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: Internal Affairs DATE: 10/10/17
FROM: LtR Whitney 0380
SUBJECT: Citizen Complaint: Natalie Pitts
I have reviewed the citizen complaint taken by Sgt. T Mann on 08/25/17 by Natalie M
Pitts. The complaint was against Sgt. Crissingcr concerning travel locations of parent pick-up at
Port Charlotte Middle School.
Ms. Pitts wrote, in part, that she went to the Orland Blvd. parent pick-up location and noticed a
long line of vehicles on the opposite side of the road for parent pick-up. She said the officer
directing traffic (later identified as Sgt. Crissinger) was yelling towards her but her windows were
up because it was raining. She said Sgt. Crissinger told her she had to go to the end of the parent
pick-up line.
Ms. Pitts wrote that Sgt. Crissinger told her to *'go, go, go'' and motioned with his hand for her to
drive forward. Ms. Pitts said she stopped her vehicle and confronted Sgt. Crissinger. She said Sgt.
Crissinger told said ''Ma'am, get in your vehicle before I give you a ticket." Ms. Pitts said she
returned to her vehicle, properly parked it then returned to Sgt. Crissinger to confront him about
his disrespectful behavior and she did not have to go to the end of the parent pick-up line. Ms. Pitts
said she later confirmed with the Principal that no policy was in place "directing what side of
Orlando to pick up."
After reviewing the written complaint from Ms. Pitts, I found that that Sgt. Crissinger did not
violate policy and did not act in a disrespectful manner. This complaint will be closed unfounded.
