    Accreditation

Is the purpose of acreditation to demonstrate we know the rules imposed by the state or that we actually follow the rules and procedures? If it is the former than it is just like so many other things at the SSO, it is a scam and all smoke and mirrors. Everyone knows the SO does not follow the guidelines except during the PLANNED inspection of the agency. That is why ONLY during the time inspectors are examining the SO are all doors shut and locked as they are supposed to be and other guidelines/procedures are followed.

Do as I say, not as I do... Move along, pay no mind to the man behind the curtain...

Maybe you should start locking those doors and encouraging your coworkers to follow the "best practices" set by accreditation standards. If you don't want to work for a great agency, then go elsewhere. The Sheriff isn't perfect, but this place is a lot better than it has been in DECADES!

Maybe that explains why the FBI denied Mr. Knight a security clearance? LOL

Media website links to news articles are provided as corroboration. The best place to start investigating is with Tom Knight and his politically promoted cronies. Look at the histories of Knight’s internal cronies and you are in for an immoral shock. It is Pandora’s box on steroids. Let's start from the top and work down and you will see Knight's pattern of immorality:

    • The FBI denied Sheriff Tom Knight a Top Secret security clearance, due to his immoral past. He was also arrested by Venice police officers for disorderly conduct when he got sloppy drunk and angry and emotional about a woman. He subsequently got into a violent fight. It shows his past (and present) emotional outbursts in public.

    • Colonel Kurt Hoffman failed a polygraph test about stealing from multiple victims and from multiple employers. Hoffman confessed to:
      - stealing pornography from a store
      - stealing a boat from a citizen
      - stealing other things from past employers
      - stealing gasoline while working as a reserve deputy for the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office (twice).
      Knight still promoted Hoffman.

    • Colonel STEVE BURN$ has left the Sarasota Sheriff's Office, but his dishonorable actions are worth noting. BURN$ had a criminal case for beating up a teenager's father who disapproved of BURN$ dating her. The battery charge was sent to the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor gave BURN$ a second chance and at the last minute, and decided not to prosecute him, but said that he might change his mind, if BURN$ committed more violence. Knight still promoted BURN$.

    • Captain John Walsh was investigated for conduct unbecoming when a deputy caught Walsh in bed with his wife. Walsh denied it during an IA investigation and he got Det. Mark Macale to lie as an alibi for him. That's corruption at the highest level. Macale cracked and told the truth to the investigator - by admitting that he lied as a false alibi for Walsh - but Walsh kept lying (until the investigator told Walsh that Macale had already told the truth). Knight still promoted Walsh.

    • Captain Ron Locke is another dishonorable mention, even though he has left the Sarasota Sheriff's Office. A sergeant and a deputy told Knight that Locke impregnated a 17 year old teenager. Knight refused to investigate Locke. As a result, FDLE had to investigate Locke. FDLE located the victim, but she said the incident was in the past and was too painful to recount, so she refused to testify any further.

    • Captain Kevin McElyea failed a lie detector tests about sleeping with another man's wife. The husband caught McElyea. Then the husband secretly recorded McElyea discussing how to suppress evidence with his wife. The husband gave the secret recording to Knight.

    • Lieutenant Dan Tutko asked a K-9 deputy to lie during a traffic stop by claiming that the dog "alerted" to drugs during a sniff. That would allow deputies to legally [sic] search the car. The deputy refused to lie for Tutko - and he reported Tutko's actions to Knight. No punishment was imposed on Tutko and the reporting-deputy was transferred out of the K9 unit as political retaliation. Knight promoted Tutko.

Knight has a consistent pattern, which is why the FBI refuses to give him a security clearance. The FBI doesn't trust Knight, but dirty people do.

You obviously are SSO brass and my guess is you are one of the people mentioned in the response above. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE other than brass will tell you the SSO is better off. The SSO is still filled with dedicated, honorable working employees but the morale is the lowest in the history of the agency. EVERYONE, even the employees who all would consider upbeat and positive people, are miserable and counting the days and minutes until they can retire. This administration has effectively destroyed the morale and reputation of the agency.

    Scammy

I was involved in many accreditations…..way would any agency have to practice for an inspection if they are following procedures according to the G.O.? I so wanted to narc and tell how fake it was. I would assume the Accreditation teams knew it was a farce, but went along with it because it is/was their job. Now that I'm on the outside, I sometimes think of rating them out, but nothing in it for me and would have been fired after the fact. Government jobs are always not what they seem to be. So much scamming and lying. Tell your children what's going on!
