Any other union representation other than the PBA?

I've been employed by the department for 17 years, and every time I'm up for discipline the union only wants to coerce me into taking a plea rather than going to arbitration downtown. for example, I'll serve my 5 day suspension and before we go to arbitration the department will offer me 3 days back, but what they don't tell you is that it still reflex on you employee file as a suspension which the department uses against you if you were go before discipline again.

So after my 17 years, I will be terminating my membership with the PBA, my question to you guys are there any other unions or legal representation I can give my 66 dollars monthly to that will better represent me in administrative/discipline matters?

I also agree. Hey also what happened to the contract. I heard the cops got something and once again C&R was left out. Our rep is garbage

    Reality Check

"I've been employed by the department for 17 years, and every time I'm up for discipline"
And what's wrong with this picture; habitual offender?

I used to see a PBA rep every so often, even on kids, but lately I’ve never seen a PBA rep around here. What has happened? We all knew Peter Newman and Kiko Rivera but don’t know who our rep is anymore.

PBA doing great!!! Under Stahl’s leadership PBA Membership up by 1200 dues paying members. PBA took over Monroe county deputies and correction deputies. Negotiated and settled many contracts like MDCR and MDPD,
Step plan for officers in Miami Gardens, City of Doral and Pinecrest. Negotiated solid contract for Miami-Dade County employees; John Rivera never even wanted to meet with mayor leaving the members flat for many years. Constant push back to management and the SAO!!!

Beware of PLEA and IUPA no experience dealing with cops even less with the difficult job of Corrections Officer look what happened to the BSO detention deputy WOW. Also plea failed representing an black officer who shot a white guy. It was a good shooting even her brass defended her but the panel of majors found it bad PLEA screwed up and she got 30 days off and can now be terminated via memo.

In 4 years we (mdcr )will be merged with mdpd to be the sheriffs office we are already the strongest union in florida and will need to stay that way if we get a bad sheriff. Any mdcr questions please contact Robert Davis or Steadman Stahl.
