    Report Corruption!

Anyone who sees corruption, fraud, abuse, or waste at the agency should report it to FDLE. You can remain anonymous.

Each and every one of you took an oath, and have a duty to report misconduct. Willful ignorance is not a defense. If you see something and don’t report it, you are just as guilty as those who commit such acts. You are the last line of defense when it comes to the public’s perception of law enforcement in Charlotte County. I can tell you that I love law enforcement and I haven’t heard anything good about CCSO in a long time. It’s really sad.

The Florida Legislature created the Florida Whistle-Blower Act in 1986 to encourage public employees to do the right thing and report fraud, waste and abuse within their state or local agencies. This act was created to protect employees from retaliation by their employing governmental agency and to encourage them to report when improper activity is occurring.

You have two options for reporting fraud, waste or abuse:

    Option 1: FDLE Specific Complaint

Call the FDLE Fraud Hotline: (850) 410-7240.

    Or

Report directly to FDLE via Online form: Report Fraud, Waste and Abuse within FDLE
Use this form only if you are a current or former FDLE member or a contract employee working on a site within an FDLE facility and need to report a violation of law of improper conduct.

Option 2: Executive Office of the Governor Office of the Chief Inspector General

You may elect to file a complaint with the Executive Office of the Governor Office of the Chief Inspector General.

    Contact the Whistle-blower's Hotline:
    (800) 543-5353 Toll-Free
    (850) 922-1060 in Tallahassee

    Good in theory

The awful truth is if you whistle blow you will lose your career. Most at CCSO choose to leave for another agency when they realize what’s going on. Law enforcement officers spend hundreds on hundreds of hours in education, training and away from their personal lives to serve our citizenry. All of that goes down the drain if they find themselves under corrupt leadership and challenge it. Let what happened to Bettina Korte-Sweede stand as an example of what happens when an officer whistle blows. Don’t risk your career, just leave. Bill Prummell is a bad person, there is nothing redeeming in him. Sadly he passed these traits down to his offspring. Hopefully, when he one day fades into the sunset will see the end of them, too. The failures they are can be linked directly to him and when he’s no longer sheriff there will be no one to protect them and they will be done. He is weak and worthless and he sired weak and worthless children. May he one day feel all the pain he’s caused others.

I completely disagree. You need to report it. The whole purpose of whistleblower law is to protect your career from termination. Don’t go to the Sheriff like she did. That’s where she made her mistake. Go straight to FDLE or the Inspector General’s Office. You can also remain anonymous.

To turn a blind eye is corruption. Its not “if” but “when.” When FDLE finds out that a person knew about such corruption and DID NOT report it, that person will most definitely say goodbye to their career, retirement, and likely face jail time.

I promise you that when the time comes and it hits the fan, the people that are in trouble will bring everyone else down around with them. They are not going down alone. Hence, report it to FDLE as soon as you see something wrong, and you’re protected.

For anyone to say otherwise is part of the problem at the agency.

cFDLE only investigates fraud within their own agency. As for corruption, it's a difficult task to prove. FDLE will only take action if you hand them all the evidence on a silver platter, ready to file. Believe me, they know just how corrupt this agency is as a result of recent investigations. At least they should by now. Eight months of a steriod investigation should show just how many people are involved in this scandal. Are they taking action? It doesn't appear so.

Prummell knows he is done. Recent allegations of employees only scratches the surface. Cops are fleeing at an astonishing rate due to the corrupt actions of the top brass.

Completely false. FDLE will investigate public corruption within LEO agencies, and if not them, then the Attorney General’s Office will.
