Don't count on SOAR. Any year the funding can end. Why would anyone want to work 72 hours a week (FHP) to make the same or more money 40 hours a week (SO or PD)???? And if you work SOAR and take leave in that two week period you offset and loose the OT money!

I don’t know any Troopers, except the ones currently in the academy that make that $38,000 tho. Most, if not all “Troopers” are over $40,000 base. Anyways, hope that answers your question.
Very true.. if you’re in a cmp county you get $5k differential, if you’re in a specialty,(ciu, dre, bcii, motors, etc) you get $2k differential. HOWEVER, that extra money is not pensionable. Your pension is based off of you 38k + any salary incentive course or degree you may have.. so you’re looking at 40-42k if you’re lucky that’s pensionable.

You should see x49s paychecks sometime...a road officer with 3 years on makes the same as an fhp lt and sometimes more in some places 😎

Thank you for the information. So a DRE gets an additional $2,000 a year?
