    Deciet. Lies, accountability, ethical behavior

Figures were released this week in regards to the city budget. It appears our esteemed interim Chief has asked for nearly a three million dollar increase from last years budget. This would put his budget in the 16 million plus figure. Now the FD needs a 9% increase in there taxing unit. When is the bleeding going to stop. We all support the NPPD, but enough is just enough. All new shiny cars, the latest equipment, new weapons and big raises. Starting salary went from 41 grand to 47 grand, they pay for basic school, (6,000) and tops at 70 grand for patrolman, 90 plus for sgts and goes up to 147 grand for Chief. This is just salary and not benefits. Now they want a armored car for 200 grand from Canada. Then when the interim chief realizes there is opposition , he first changes the terminology to a rescue veh and then tries to hide his request in a patrol veh purchase request. Really, deceit and dishonesty ??? First the interim has stated we used SPD armored veh for water rescue before, truth or deceit, no one seems to remember this. The interim states this is a high water rescue vehicle, truth or deceit. It is not, can navigate a puddle but you cannot open the doors in three feet of water. fact is he wants a shiny new armored car and will not settle for military surplus. Now the interim wants to man a non existent station in West Villages, I ask why not man the abandoned station on North Port Blvd, which if the manpower was sufficient would easily cover west villages. More money and manpower for the new traffic unit, which generates nearly no income for the city. If the manpower was there, patrol could as it has done for the past five years, every patrol veh has radar etc. The fiasco called the search for a chief is nothing short of a joke. Really look at the candidates, is this the best we could do or are they the only ones who will become another puppet for this admin. KV destroyed this place, CM was and is KV's puppet. Nothing will change unless we change it. Wanna pay more taxes, let things ride, the PD will spend every dime they get. Ask yourself is there any surplus money left from this years 14 million dollar budget, salaries alone there were some 26 vacant positions, where did that money go. We need to stop this frivolous spending before we go broke, again. Enough is just enough, make them accountable !!!!!!!! Just remember the interim only has a HS education, no business experience and we are entrusting him with 16 million dollars of our money, scared yet???????

anyone interested can google Lenco BEARCAT and see just what this Vehicle is all about. The term BEARCAT stands for Ballistic Engineered Response Counter Attack Truck. A warrior wagon. Is this the type of Vehicle we want parked in front of our schools as VC wants. Refer to the agencies owning one, only a couple in FL,

Dont knock the candidates that made the final four. Kitzerow has been chief for the past 12 years at Jupiter, two years at another agency before that and then third in command of the largest agency in Virginia.

Another has been chief at two colleges (ok bad example..lol).

Anthony was a Captain at Naples PD and asst Chief in TIAPD.

Garrison commands a district larger than North Port and is the 6th largest Sheriff's Office in Florida.

I would say those four are pretty good applicants.

I am troubled by whoever you are. Your not a police officer. You are not a person who has sworn to protect and would give his or her life to save another. Our officers have been under paid for several years now. This pay raise was based on a study salary that compared surrounding agency salaries inorder to be competitive. In fact, the City Commission approved a salary study for all employees in the entire city.

For you to question our officers going from 41 to 47 thousand to start is ridiculous. They deserve it. The Interim Chief's increase in budget is mainly due to the salary increases approved by our commission. I commend them (commission) for it. I think the Interim Chief is doing a great job and is making positive changes in the short time he has been in his position. When he makes his decision he keeps us all informed and even explains why he is doing it, when he really doesn't have to. Second SPDs armored vehicle was here to help us during the floods and in fact If you research there (SPD's) social media page post Irma you would see there officers posing for a picture getting ready to head down to assist NPPD with the floods. Do some fact checking Mr. deceitful.

So here is my point...why would SPD need to help you? Shouldn't you be asking the county for help? Why are you so against asking the Sheriff of the county you are in for help? Instead you ask Charlotte County deputies to sit in on oral boards? You really want help from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office? Do some research on that group.

North Port would be better off dissolving the PD and hiring the sheriff. Financially it makes better sense then trying to become the Sheriff's Office. The taxpayers are being double taxed anyways. We will reach a point when we run out of money and it will sneak up on us.

If we went to the Sheriff, as you propose, the Sheriff would be responsible for the entire county and not just the small southern portion known as North Port. WE would not have near the control. The Sheriff would be free to do what he wants. If it didn't work out have you ever looked at the costs of starting a police department from scratch the size of North Port. Talk about a huge budget hit!! North Port could not afford to do that without raising taxes significantly. As it stands now the Police Department is 100% responsible for only North Port. Officers don't come and go from other parts of the county. They become part of the community. the get to know the business owners and some of the residents. They also learn what is out of place. They also do the small things that you will never get from a Sheriff's Office. You may save a small amount of money initially but you will also suffer from control, services, and local officers who know you and what is normal and out of place. You always get what you pay for in life.

The Sheriff is an elected position and he would take care of the city just fine. There is plenty of back up, already paid for equipment, helo, "responsible k-9 handlers", traffic, swat, narcotics, and properly trained personnel, excellent state of the art records handling, and I have no doubt that it would "work out" it has been working out for about one hundred years. The city should look at the long term cost of retirements benefits, lost trained officers, etc. and do a cost analysis. We could bring this to a vote and put it on the ballot. No more trying to build a "real" police department, just solid professional protection. West Villages would even get covered "finally".

we had at least two qualified applicants the last time, you are being sold a bill of goods here, Chief K is a journeyman chief, will go where the money is, what are his accomplishments, ummmm none, Anthony, TIAA< really that's qualifications, Captain in the LCSO, Lee county is harda$$, we have had LCSO employed here, left and went back because it was boring, still only a Captain. Really this is the best of the best or is it the the list of who will play ball with them. Sorry Most of us believe there are better applicants available, but just didn't wanna be a puppet.

Troubled ok, Yes I am a certified LEO, now to get to your comments in regards to the pay scale, your right we were left behind in raises, I believe you will see that I didn't knock that, just the money pit the PD has become. Now, in regards to CM comments that SPD sent there armored veh to NP during Irma and the picture you refer to, this proves my point about being deceitful. The picture you refer to is a picture of a military surplus Humvee aka Hummer, not of a armored Veh, for your info SPD armored veh is not a water rescue Veh. I am surprised the interim chief choose to try and deceive us using this incident, since anyone who has been in the military or has knowledge of military Vehs knows this is a surplus hummer painted over, wait guess you are more troubled that you thought. PS, a citizen has more of a chance of getting hurt or killed than a armed, trained LEO, so stop the paranoid nonsense, its not working. Been here thru KV terror reign and CM did nothing to protect his personnel, Absolutely nothing but double talk and coward down. Talks out of both sides of his mouth, so believe what you want.

I caught two of the three candidates response on the Bearcat. One was surprsed that there was a discussion of an armored vehicle in North Port. The other made the direct case for supporting Morales choice of vehicle over a US military vehicle, even if it seems costly. Rollover was one of his points.. and i dont recall the rest. I wanted to follow up with the immediate need but decided it wasnt fair as he isnt privvy to all the details.
