No certificate offered as you haven’t actually taught anything...

The media is specifically exempt from the 60 day restriction (and has been for some time). You should read the statute...

    http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/.../0316.066.html

    316.066 (2) (b)

“Crash reports held by an agency under paragraph (a) may be made immediately available to the parties involved in the crash, their legal representatives, their licensed insurance agents, their insurers or insurers to which they have applied for coverage, persons under contract with such insurers to provide claims or underwriting information, prosecutorial authorities, law enforcement agencies, the Department of Transportation, county traffic operations, victim services programs, radio and television stations licensed by the Federal Communications Commission, newspapers qualified to publish legal notices under ss. 50.011 and 50.031, and, in accordance with paragraph (f), free newspapers of general circulation, published once a week or more often, of which at least 7,500 copies are distributed by mail or by carrier as verified by a postal statement or by a notarized printer’s statement of press run, which are intended to be generally distributed and circulated, and which contain news of general interest with at least 10 pages per publication, available and of interest to the public generally for the dissemination of news. For the purposes of this section, the following products or publications are not newspapers as referred to in this section: those intended primarily for members of a particular profession or occupational group; those with the primary purpose of distributing advertising; and those with the primary purpose of publishing names and other personal identifying information concerning parties to motor vehicle crashes.”

The Legislature decided that crash reports are restricted to only certain involved parties for the first two months, basically to prevent initial fraud and unsolicited ambulance chasing by unsavory attorneys. A violation of this is a felony.

I disagree with the press release thing too.

Most media outlets do have access to paid databases for vehicle registration info.
    No FCIC needed.

Here’s a list of providers from the state website: https://www.flhsmv.gov/driver-licens...ecord-history/

The DPPA form has a bunch of reasons the record can be released, like tow companies, attorneys and stuff.

But basic FAA airplane registrations are already public. Don’t need FCIC for that either.

Thanks for attending class, but no certificates will be provided to deputies.

I didn't see where anyone said media wasn't allowed. It is nice to know FAA N-number plane registrations are public and available on the internet.

There a new way to make sure everyone sees your post. It's the "Delete" button. So after you type your response, highlight all of it, and just hit the Delete key. Works perfect.

Not sure if that was an attempt to be witty or not.

In either case, don't quit your day job.

I wear a good looking uniform (nothing wrinkled from 1950), make good money without pulling extra shifts every day, my car is less than a year old, and supervisors back us (not crucify) when we have to do use of force, pursuits, or real cop work.

Don’t even have to work crashes, write tickets and go to court. My day job is good.

FHP is a great day job. Pull up to an accident, swipe a DL, prefill the accident report, hit a button to print out a ticket. Real hard working accidents. Its a joke, just mandate the So and PD to work their own accidents (like my agency does) and just get rid of the useless agency. So keep on trying to tell everybody how hard you work pushing all of those buttons on that computer working those accidents.

Yeah I wouldn’t be bragging about your pseudo-law enforcement work that’s barely a step above a community service worker. Of course you don’t have the scrutiny that deputies have, because you don’t actually do any work that involves risk on a daily basis. Have fun with your tint meter.

Because they do. Your only here to augment the Sheriffs Offices in case you forgot.

Pretty much right. Too bad someone couldn't have stood up for FHP when they were proposing adding law enforcement to the state constitution. FWC is already there.

This is one saying they can't do away with Sheriff's in charter counties. Scroll to the green writing.

The voters want the Sheriff not the FHP. Wide open road with nothing around where everyone goes fast? The Sheriff uses discretion and only pulls over people who are actually dangerous. The Trooper goes out there on Sundays when traffic is even lighter and pops 2 people an hour for 6 over to get his overtime.
