    More BS.

These people have got to get on with their lives. Instead of writing books to cash in on the death of a loved one, perhaps they should have stayed in Broward County and led the campaign to harden the schools to protect the students. Even better, perhaps they should have demanded that the schools had effective security to prevent a mass school shooting, before this happened. That did not happen. Why? Because no one thought that the threat of a mass school shooter was real.

Now, Sheriff Israel did not ALLOW Dep. Peterson to hide and not enter thee building. Israel was not on scene. He was not in a position to hold a gun to Peterson's head and force him to enter. And, there is no guarantee that Meadow Pollack would be alive if Peterson HAD entered the building. Once you allow an armed attacker into the school, there are going to be casualties. AQnd keeping armed intruders out of the school was the responsibility of the BCSB, not the BSO.

As to the Captain not allowing paramedics to rush in, this occurred when the school security system showed that Cruz was still in the building. She had no idea that the surveillance system was on a delay of several minutes. Why would anyone allow unarmed personnel into a building in which an armed shooter was thought to be operating? Perhaps to run up his body count by giving him more targets?

See, the media narrative completely ignored the fact that 1) mass school shootings are very rare and 2) because of this the BCSB did not have sufficient security in place to stop one and 3) the parents were fine with that. Once the shooting occurred, the public felt vulnerable and the parents felt guilty. So, a scapegoat had to be found. By this innocent scapegoat, we could all feel safe and the loved one of the deceased could be relieved of their guilt. So, the Sheriff gets blamed and suspended, the Legislature passes a law to increase security at the schools and today, we sleep better knowing that the current security standards, for Florida schools, are almost exactly the same as those at MSDHS on the day of the shooting. And, the public is fine with that. No demonstrations at the BCSB offices. No teacher strikes. No Op-eds in the local media. The same county officials in charge. The only thing different is that the then-sheriff got hosed and suspended for BS political reasons. Does everyone feel better now?

More fake news. How can a person make an informed decision when the media ignores facts, skews facts and dispenses falsehoods?

    Unbelievable

You Israel flunkies really truly believe that mumbles doesn’t bare any of the responsibility in this shooting. You have to be some of the sickest people on this earth.

Let's put this responsibility thing into perspective, shall we?

Who was responsible for the security at MSDHS? The Sheriff? No. The BCSB. Were any of the school board members suspended? No. Did anything that the Sheriff do, or fail to do, directly allow the shooting to occur? No. Did anything the BCSB do, or fail to do, directly allow the shooting to occur? Yes. Were any of the school board members suspended? No. Who got suspended? the Sheriff. Why him and not the BCSB, which was responsible for security at the school and which failed to provide such security?

Now, did individual members of the BSO perform less than stellarly at MSDHS? Yes. Were they disciplined, by the Sheriff? Yes. Did their performance allow the shooting to occur? No. Did their actions allow people to be injured or killed? Perhaps. The again perhaps not. There is no guarantee that anyone casualties would have been saved if Dep. Peterson had raced into the building immediately upon his arrival. Was the sheriff, or his policies directly responsible for the actions of his deputies? No.

What the Israel haters have to understand is that Israel should never have been suspended for the performance of his department at MSDHS. His department was NOT responsible for the shooting incident. But, the parents of the injured students and the media demanded that an elected official be disciplined. And, they did not care who that was. So, they, and the political machine, fingered the sheriff for the role of scapegoat. Then a gubernatorial candidate ran on a promise to suspend Israel. When he won, he made good on that political promise. So, he suspended the sheriff on largely trumped up charges, and in violation of the traditional standards for suspension of an incumbent sheriff in Florida. The sheriff became the victim of a political hit, to assuage the mob generated by the media and the relatives of the victims of the shooting.

It would only be deemed unfair and unjust if he were not one of "THEM." He is one of them. Therefore, it is acceptable to most that he is the fall guy. While it would be preferable for all of them to be sent packing, better one than none. He chose his allies. Six million dollar man Runcie played him like a dollar store kazoo, and will moon walk out of Broward with Scott carrying his bags still defending him.

One of THEM. Right. If you work for a company and one of your fellow workers doesn't do his job, YOU should be fired for HIS actions? Even if you had done your job? Is that your point? What a "maroon".

Again, neither the Sheriff nor any member of his agency did anything which caused or allowed the shooting to take place. Others did. Yet, only the Sheriff was suspended. How does that work in a civilized society? And, I'm going to take it a step farther. While the BCSB was directly responsible for the security of the campus of MSDHS, the teachers, parents and voters of the entire county were happy with the security arrangements in place. Get that? Everyone in the county was on-board with the security arrangements in place at MSDHS on the day of the shooting. And, since the shooting, the BCSB, the teachers, the parents and the voters are satisfied with the current security arrangements, which are virtually the same as those in place at MSDHS in February 14, 2018.

Please, the MSDHS shooting is largely forgotten by everyone but the loved ones of the victims. Nobody cares, including those in a position of authority. The BCSB will not be replaced or, if they are, it will be by others of the same stripe. School security will not be upgraded to handle a mass school shooter, because it is 1) too expensive and 2) people feel safe now that the sheriff has been suspended. And, this will continue until another armed individual walks onto a campus in Broward County and shoots the place up. Who will we suspend then, in order to feel safe? The sheriff, again?

    Give me a break.

If Scott even one time pointed at BCPS and stated " It was the school who failed at security" he would have the support today. He didn't have the courage. Spin it any way you want. COURAGE is an attractive attribute after what has taken place. A whiny old senior citizen claiming that he's being scapegoated is NOT perceived as a courageous leader. And no, MSD has not been forgotten and never will be. Columbine hasn't been forgotten either, nor as Sandy Hook. Are you unaware of the 17 million dollar grant that is on it's way to BCPS for school security? You haven't mentioned that at all. You're very wrong about schools not being upgraded in time. It's already in progress. All that's lacking now is some training, some good organization and some giddy up in the event of another incident. Whomever is perceived to be the candidate who will do the most to assure the public of good response time, whether it can save lives or not or not, will win the primary. Scott's hurt feelings are a non-issue. The perspective of cops is not the same as the perspective of Joe voter. Joe voter wants Deputy Doodah to risk life and limb to get there ASAP and either apprehend or shoot the bad guy. It's really that simple. A vote for a Sheriff is all about safety for ones own.

Then we are all sick. How can any chief or sheriff be resoonsible for the acts of a criminal who up to that point did nothing that would have been illegal? Absurd
