Suspension
Well as usual Chief “Butch” has demonstrated how he only cares about his public perception and not about the officers that work for him. A 5 day unpaid suspension over a stupid comment on Facebook is way over the top. What happened to progressive discipline? The officer admitted to making a mistake, has a clean record and is a 23 year veteran of the department. Heck, he even apologized in order to get ahead of this. A verbal warning at best, maybe even a write up would have ended this bullshit. Instead you chose to be heavy handed so you would look good in the media. “Butch” you need to man the you-know-what up and grow a pair of balls. Not the 1st cop you have screwed over, I’m sure it won’t be the last. Sad times we live in when a Chief won’t back his cops.

FACEBOOK = EVIDENCE. Stay off. Suspension is too much. First Amendment right?

Seriously? A non-threatening comment is making headlines and got someone suspended for 5 days with no pay? Are we trying to raise a bunch of self entitled babies? If that's the worst thing this kid has heard, he needs to keep sucking on his mom's titty. Shame on you chief for throwing your own team player under the bus and publicly denouncing him

The Chief will always look out for #1 himself before anyone else, just the way it is. If you expect something different, than you are naive. A police chief is nothing more than a politician draped in a police uniform. Just be weary when hell tells you that you can do whatever you want without repercussions. You can until the media finds out and then watch your ass get dropped like its hot!Nothing personal, just the way it is welcome to policing today.

Typical victim mentality that will prevent ou from ever amounting to much. The officer didn't get screwed over. Any officer that violates policy, especially in such a public manner, didn't get screwed over- they were held accountable for their actions.
And drop the "back their cops" BS. Backing cops is not an imperitive for a Chief. In fact the opposite is true. Chiefs not holding obvious bad behavior of an individual cop accountable hurts every other cop.
