    Dear Sheriff

    Dear Sheriff:

Do you understand why you are experiencing such overwhelming bad karma?

    1. You fired 28 employees, all with families, that you didn't even know, because people like Ira Goldberg, Angelo Cedeno, Mark Trudel, Nathan Osgood, Ozvaldo Tianga, Dan Christopher, and others that supported you, didn't like them or they were held to task for poor performance. The motivation was revenge and you let it happen, with a smile of course because these people had helped you. This has haunted you, because anyone that will sell out for you will sell you out too. And this is happening now.

    2. You started day one at your swearing-in by stating "the good ole boys days are over" This turned out to be a complete lie, as the good ole boy system had already begun. There were people at your swearing-in that were walking around wearing unearned collar brass with many more on the way from Ft. Lauderdale PD. You called these people "your all-star team"This caused many BSO people to be prevented from moving up and completely stagnated their careers. Week one you made many people unhappy with you failed promises!

    3. You then promoted and brought people in from other agencies that had no business being in such positions of authority. This later came back to haunt you because when crises occurred and their inexperience became glaring you looked terrible.

    4. You created a Community Outreach Team consisting of all political appointees aimed at keeping you in your position as sheriff. You permanently positioned a team at Century Village and Kings Pointe to make sure the retired people, who ALL vote, could see that the agency would do whatever they needed in exchange for a vote. PS these people saw through all of it!
    5. You never once involved yourself in any law enforcement crime initiatives but instead made grocery giveaways, shredathons, muslim outreach events and no enforcement of juvenile crimes your priorities. You left political hires and promoted hacks to run the agency in your absence. One such high ranking individual chose to chase around his communications girlfriend and hang out with his friends in SID, rather then to be a real administrator.

    6. You brought in secretaries and civilian staff that treat the rank and file like crap, using their perceived relationships with command to intimidate people of lesser positions.

    7. You made R. Deperna one of your closest advisers after he was suspected in a crime, terminated and that termination was upheld by an independent arbitrator. How can anyone respect this move! Oh yes, his daddy the Doctor was a big supporter right?

    8. Tragedies occur and you make a complete spectacle of yourself in the media. You tried to use the MSD incident to propel your political agenda, and had your eyes on the Governor's spot remember? This came back on you because EVERYONE SAW YOU FOR WHAT YOU ARE.

There are many many more incidences that can be cited but the point has been made. Karma is now knocking at your door, demanding payment!

You have disgraced yourself, your family, and the men and women of BSO and now you are experiencing a very sloooow and painful life.

Excellent post. The first indicator was the Russ rehire ; but not only for those reasons. That was a premeditated and vindictive pay back move. It spoke volumes about the character of a new "leader"- lack thereof.

A lot of people were happy to see many of the 28 leave; yet in the back of their minds; they could see from the very beginning the lack of professionalism in being easily led by the EMOTIONS of friends and associates.

A hot mess from day one.

Really, the russ case? And who over-saw his case. Dave Benjamin(federal prison). Everyone knows that case to well. And who represented him? Claudia Estrada from the PBA, who’s just resigned from the bench and will probably go to prison when the investigation is completed. And where is the PBA, GONE. And most of all, where is the man who called the hit on him. Fired by 400,000 people. Seems as though everyone involved in russ’s case is either in prison, about to go to prison, or out of work. 😂

The point was that the rehire did not appear to be about R.D.or whether his firing was justified or not.
The rehire, appeared to be utilized as a vindictive slap to Al using R.D as an instrument to make a point. THAT is why it has been an issue. This administration seems to fail to understand that the optics of things have a direct impact on morale. Also, what has become clear is that in a dictatorship, good morale, which motivates employees, is not valued. That is not problematic for an administration until there is a crisis and agency needs to stick together to come through. Unfortunately, for many reasons, that will not be the case.
