A special election is only required if the sheriff is removed before a certain date. Unfortunately, I don't know what that date is, however, he can be suspended until after that date then removed. Then the Governor can appoint whomever he wants to finish out the term.

I agree with your comment of the place loaded with spineless turds, which unfortunately is why we may never prevail.
We have to contend with a county ingrained with a long history of political corruption and with a sheriff that has a team of advisors that have influence with the media & sao. But what's worse than anything is the total lack of comradery amongst the employees, something that's always been encouraged at bso and for that alone we may never win.
However, jeff bell has my total support and I will support anything he does to make this a little better place. They can stuff their raise!
