Sheriffs opinion piece in the Sun Sentinel

Today the Sheriff posted an opinion piece in the Sun Sentinel. He basically exonerated himself from any wrongdoing and said the vote of no confidence is being done by deputies seeking a raise.
If this is about money then let's talk about that point. For years Scott Israel has used BSO as a source of revenue for a very large group of friends from Ft Lauderdale PD paying them $150-175 THOUSAND in salary plus benefits. In addition to sworn positions this practice was extended to elected officials from municipalities and civic leaders who received salaries, cars and benefits. In reality this groups primary function is to serve as a political machine to keep the golden goose alive. As further evidence of this is the fact that the Sheriff hired a Public Relations Firm to help rebuild his image at significant cost of taxpayer dollars.
They are far more concerned with political results than fighting crime.
Failed policies, inadequate training and positions of rank being filled from the retirement ranks of FLPD or promotions being made on the Buddy system have caused lives to be lost and the morale of the troops to be in the gutter.
This is not about raises but an agency being ripped to the core by " Amazing Leadership "
There are numerous vacancies in the rank and file but a glut of top level positions that are costing the taxpayers MILLIONS of dollars. When " buddies"are brought in they are given rank far above what they've earned in past positions and they in turn bring in friends as secretaries or other support positions again at top dollar.
The deputies who have come forward to expose to the public and the Governor the ills that plague the agency have done so at great personal risk. The Sheriff, through his editorial has tried to sway public opinion but in this issue the Public should stand up and be counted with the deputies.

I would like to amend the post insofar that People for a Safe Broward funded the PR group not taxpayer dollars. I stand behind everything else

It was clearly a satire piece written by the sheriff's staff.

But I thought the days of the good old boy system was gone? This can't be true? I'm so disappointed.

Let's be clear about who is "using" Parkland.

East of Pine Island is not NY Chinese drywall (no offense to the Asian community) territory. Parkland is 48% Republican and largely independents. Half of the city never supported this administration, some considered and declined. Now, most, including loyal democrats are waiting for a new democratic candidate. The Jewish community who lost 4 children, recognize an opportunistic politician when they see one.

The Sun-Sentinel piece was another Jake Tapper moment. Any support that was here is gone. Kudos to your deputies and sergeants who have taken a stand. We are hopeful that the good ones, who care about children, leave the agency for a better County if R.Scott doesn't come through.

Keep talking though. Obviously whomever is writing columns for the amazing leader, also wants him gone.

    Yankees

West of Pine Island: Brooklyn/Queens can't stand anything Bronx. Bronx should be lopped off the NY map. No fans here either
