Is Velazquez Dirty?
A good leader will take steps to protect the integrity of his dept. Instead, Chief Velasquez has pissed on all of our reputations by not even suspending with pay a cop accused of sexual assaulting a juvenile while on duty. It is alleged that he is in the pocket of the Menocals and has been for quite some time.
To those who doubt that the chief is taking bribes from the Menocals consider these:
1) In last week's newspaper, Porky's manager Tony Galeota stated that every 2 months he had to give an envelope with $25,000 cash to pay off the cops and local politicians. The money had to go to somebody in control. If Velasquez was innocent he would have directed IA to conduct an investigation since his agency was named. That hasn't happened. It's not too hard to figure out why.
2) Mobsters Raul Sosa Jr and Raul Sosa Sr were recently arrested by the FBI for bribing public officials. Prior to the bribery arrests he was arrested once before for money laundering. And guess who took time off from work to go to the courthouse and vouch for the character of these two mobsters? You guessed it....Sergio Velasquez! Now here's the kicker...Velasquez went and vouched for Sosa's character knowing that he once PULLED A GUN ON A COP! Can you believe that??? What some people will do for envelopes full of cash!
3) And then there is the Menocal mess. He allegedly sexually assaults a juvenile while on duty, supposedly having her remove her underwear and masturbating during the process. All this because she made an illegal U-turn. Weather the story is 100% true or she embellished it is irrelevant. Velazquez had a fiduciary responsibility to protect the public by at least temporary suspending JM. And he knew what was required because he lied to the press when he said JM was suspended. He was NEVER suspended! He set out to protect Menocal from the outset and counted on the whole thing blowing over as it usually does.
The stories about the Menocals either bribing or holding something over the Velazquez's head are rampant and this seems to confirm it.
The bottom line is there are questions that need to be answered and the process needs to begin.

At today’s City Council, the administration began the process to try to raise the mileage property rate for Hialeah’s residential property owners under the excuse of needing more police officers and public services. Please, give me a f**** break!!! It only means more money for the dirty officials to play with. I hope the voters turn it down.
