Good Public Meeting on the Guardian Program

I want to know why a math teacher who is also supposedly a soldier has ideas about "drills" "engaging a shooter with an automatic weapon". He claims he is both? Where does one end and the other begin said he also quoted in the newspaper.

Easy, when you are discharged. What branch and MOS was this clown? Or this clown is a "Weekend Warrior" making a "military career" of two weeks in the summer and one weekend a month. Military traning is not nearly a relevant as you think Rambo.

The majority of supporters (especially the out of state retired from some hick state, probably wears a man purse for CCW), how many of you have children of your own at risk?

The majority of those with children seemed against the idea for good reason. Those parents who do have children and support the program, you are much more brave than I. Why would I want to have someone who has a few short weeks of training, it is traning for reaction, not thinking before reacting. I could practically feel the eagerness to be the "the few the proud and increasingly less "secret".

God help you all who want to put our children at risk with undertrained over compensating gunslingers who ARE NOT TRAINED POLICE OFFICERS.

Is Sheriff Whidden serious about the Guradian project?

While something has to be done BY TRAINED POLICE OFFICERS, is he really going to allow people with a few weeks training loose in the schools? Probably.

Those in favor of this idea are probably blind Whidden supporters and are hot on the idea of carrying a gun in schools. I almost fell out of my chair, a Chairborne Ranger Algebra teacher thinking a short course will somehow install magic fortitude to go handgun against magazine fed rifle in a school (read "high potential for innocent bystander casualties) and exchange lead in some hallway.

2 or 3 weeks of shooting drills? Put an application in to become deputy instead. This 2 to 3 "week" program or however many hours it is of "shooting drills".

Stevie, the FTO program for "regular" deputies does not even work, does the public know this? They don't know a lot about what goes on in the department.

Don't worry folks, our children are acceptable casualties to him. "At least he tried something" right ?

This is the wrong thing to try. Teachers teach, Deputies protect. Both work together, but not like in the movies where one throws a spare gun and its Lethal Weapon and Bad Boys.

This program is not entire "free". Why not ask "why are not "regular" deputies" considered for this training?

This is another new twist on the reserve program. Hand out a reserve star and ID to anyone - Steve claims all this screening will be done to "select" these Guaradians?

Who was the name of the drug dealer FELON who somehow had a Hendry County Sheriff Reserve Badge and ID, and for his sentencing before Judge Sloan, wanted to call Steve Whidden as a character reference. The judge wisely excused himself. Dealoa? A few years ago.

The department Steve Whidden runs, or is ran with his name, does not perform decent background checks for personnel as it is, but usddently claims this Guradian project will have polygraphs, psychological tests for screening and ongoing ones, super background exams.

The department has a reputation as a last stop for unemployables, he uses IAs as a management tool. Bogus IAs that track up peoples careers. If the citizens in the public meeting knew a fraction of the mismanagement and malfeasance which has gone on for years, you could imagine the resistance to this Guardian program.

Guns in Schools only by Deputies who go to Police Academies

Guns in schools are the new norms? If law enforcement did its job - allocate TRAINING to DEPUTIES instead of "certifiying" supposedly to be screened "volunteers"

So a "teacher-warrior" who cannot distinguish bettwen where being a teaching ends and where a soldier begins? Does the VA offer counseling ? Pursue it.

Rambo should consider paying a visit to Bayside in St Petersburg to discuss that perception.

I do not want my child sitting in a class room knowing their teacher is armed, I don't care what anyone says about how discreet or undercover the guns are going to "secreted", word will get around once its noticed one time.

Teachers are certified to "teach", not gunfight. Deputies are "certified" to take "law enforcement" action, they spend months in an academy learning the basics, and over those months are also under informal observation.

Normal, well managed and professional managed departments offer such training to interested deputies. Not push a program to arm civilians to react to "engage shooters with automatic weapons"

Rambo the soldier-warrior mathmetician obviously knows from experience what its like to be on the receiving end of supressive fire - you are going to blow off taking cover and stand and engage puting your "drills" to use? What is your MOS? Come join the department instead, do one or the other please.

Deputies do not try to teach in schools. They can teach other deputies but even for that they need separate certification.

A two or three week course teaches mechanics and reaction, it does not provide judgement and reaction under stress?
No matter what "training scenarios" are created (how many hours of training will this course provide? What is the curricullum? Let's see the lesson plans, or are those "confidential"?)

This is a PR distraction. "He is doing something" "He is listening" Our children are merely expendible props if it serves his and his administrations longevity.

Why not spend time in the public meetings revealing to the public the state of affairs within the department, the lawsuits, the promotion situaiton, the witch hunt IAs used to intimidate and discredit credible people who you KNOW "know"

Here, to refresh your memory. https://whiddenslies.weebly.com/favo...l-friends.html

Hope this helps keep Sheriff "Steve" Whidden's background requirements in public view.

You are on the right track. If "Sheriff Steve" hands out badges to FELONS because "they seem like pretty decent people" (scroll down read the page in the link), what kind of judgement does he have regarding ARMED CIVILIANS AROUND SCHOOL CHILDREN?

They put about 9 of the school personnel through the training at the gun range this summer. NOW they are doing the psych evals and polygraphs. Really? Cart before the horse....typical. SMH
