FHP 2018 Pay Raise Approved in State Budget

    https://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/s...LHpwJEoZuIylL/

    Excerpt from the article:

"The new budget does not include a general pay raise for state employees, but it would provide a 7 percent pay hike for law-enforcement officers working in various state agencies including the Florida Highway Patrol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The increase would be 10 percent for officers with more than 10 years of service."

This will at least fix the retention and recruitment problem for now.

It didn’t do d!ck. How many 10year plus Troopers are there these days!? Command staff, and supervisors got a raise. The new blood, which we need to stick around got nothing. They will still be applying at better paying agencies and the cycle will continue.

7% of this worthless salary is crap. Didn’t even bring us up to where we need to be. And now next year they will say “well we gave you a raise last year”. We won’t see another penny for several years at least. And the cycle will continue. We will continue to fall further and further behind other agencies with actual step plans etc

It could have been a 25% raise and you guys would have complained that it wasn’t 30%. You do realize the legislators are the ones to blame for the pay issues, right? The agency can’t spend money without legislative approval. Put the blame where it should be. All state agencies are dragging, not just FHP.

Problem is legislators refused to fix the low pay that's causing troopers to quit every year, creating a trooper shortage. Then they have the nerve to complain to FHP why nothing is being done to retain and recruit people. Really hard to do that when pay is low.

FHP had the same pay of $34k, the same pay since 2005. It finally took them 12 years to raise the pay to $38k.

Now legislature is throwing out token pay raises, hoping it would quiet down.

Bull Crap. 25% is what it should been. It would have put us at 47,000 which is near the national average. Basically a bunch of captains and old timers got 10K plus raises while troopers got 2.5K or next to nothing.

Thanks amigo! We will go work on our “engineer degrees” and report back. Lol! This is what is wrong with FHP today. There are three factions. The old time brass and supervisors, that are paid and don’t give a damn about line level Troopers. There are the line level guys who care about FHP and the job and just want to make ends meet, and then there are these guys....The crowd that is happy not to be at Mcdonald’s or picking Mangos anymore and will work for peanuts. FHP will never come together to demand LE pay.
