    Another Insult

The parents of autistic children in District 17, whose children have been victimized by juvenile without consequence, and subject to the whim and discretion of elusive, avoidant paper pushing deputies, sergeant and command staff, are eager to counter BSO administrations claims of being champions for children with autism.

We'd be more than happy to hand out copies of police reports which clearly state what "ISN'T" juvenile C-R-I-M-E in Parkland when a budding predatory juvenile has a relative with LE connections.

We're all about "Uniting Broward", especially the Autism community. Let us all know if you need a hand setting up your booth at any event. We'll bring the donuts; and the truth.

    Support for Autism? Nope.

In 2013, in Deerfield Beach, a young surfer dude who showed up for Surfers for Autism, to assist the autistic kids in the water was arrested for attempting to drown one of the kids by purposely holding his head under the water. His explanation was that autistic kids are actually posessed; and he was just trying to do an exorcism, of sorts.

His photo wasn't on the front page of the Sun-Sentinel. The board of SFA claimed that they had not been notified of the arrest which prevented them from assuring that this individual would not show up at the next event.

That news story wouldn't benefit BSO.

Nice job today with your phony concern about the light skinned bi-racial child in foster care. Checks all the boxes for your BSO poster child. God bless this kid under the "watchful eye" of heartless politicians, and CPIS who are lame ducks under the thumb of BSO command.

You have used the African-American community at every turn. Parents of autistic kids gave up on BSO a long time ago. We're on our own with our kids. If you would like to crash our events with the fleet of vehicles that we paid for, be sure to bring the media with you. There's lots to say.

    Worried...

Big concern now, is that the police will overcompensate. Nothing more humiliating than being labeled a coward. Since some took no action and have been relentlessly excoriated by their peers;; and Sheriff Shameless, does this mean that some police will be understandably hyper vigilant and possibly go to the other extreme? Lots of autistic kids in Parkland who appear very typical on the exterior but do not do well in public. It's really scary. When we get a new Sheriff, and hopefully it will be soon, we need to request a meeting with our new Captain immediately (unless BSO is out) and request a meet and greet with deputies on all shifts. We tried to do this under this current administration and were turned away by an administrative assistant -and callously referred to a BCPS liason. We called the number provided and it was disconnected. This same request was also refused by the administration at Westglades Middle School when we wanted to acquaint or kids with the SRD. Our SRD was open to meeting but confided that the school did not want him involved.

NOW BSO admin is full of ideas for our kids? They had 5 years. Please get out of our city before we have another tragedy created by your consistently conflicting directives. Our police need a leader of LAW ENFORCEMENT not a professional campaigner. OUR KIDS ARE UNSAFE.

No worries. This administration is not behind its Deputies. They are quick to hang you out to dry!
There has been about 10,000 changes to the Policy Book and every change is there to burn the Deputies.
There is no incentive to go out there and do honest hard police work.
We are waiting for a Sheriff with some chutzpah who will not play all politics all the time! Hopefully soon!!!!

Don't hold your breath! I have been here since 1988 and will be retiring in less than 90 days. From Navarro to the current sheriff, they have all been garbage in their own particular ways! Some were glory hounds and others were real duds. Most (not all) Sheriffs could care less about the rank and file, or the community at all.

The brats at MSD are sporting their new clear backpacks today. Have them all loaded up with Trojans, Tampons and other stuff to show the media. What an incredibly retarded idea to offer this as a "safety" measure. Hard to keep a straight face.

They ARE unsafe and have been for a long time. Alot of us have learned this the hard way. The fact that juvenile records are confidential creates many secrets. Over the past few years parents have been moving their kids over to schools in Coral Springs and Boca for this reason. Westglades has a clean facade but has actually been one of the most apathetic and unsupportive environments for kids who don't need physical direct care. Unless a kid is in a wheelchair or has some other adaptive equipment, they are abandoned. Nik Cruz is a Westglades creation. He was left unattended to roam around the school and create havoc until ESE had enough behavioral matrix points to conveniently dump him elsewhere. For whatever reason the SRO's don't have the balls to stand up to a school principal.
Coral Springs PD is interactive with disabled kids. I saw an Officer out on the basketball court with the kids in the days after the shooting. He spontaneously parked his unit and joined the game. The female Sergeant, Carla, in CS is knowledgeable about PDD and has been very supportive. It's a world of difference. I remember a few years back when there was a parent effort at Westglades to integrate autistic kids with the SRO and it was shot down. Maybe if the next Sheriff is not a malignant narcissist, there will be a sincere effort to address autism in the community;and our kids will be more than a yearly photo opportunity. Our kids don't need to climb on your equipment on Autism Awareness Day, they need a SRO to know them by name.
