Yes we are short handed, but this agency takes on way way too much and puts its nose into everything. Our job is to enforce the law and thats it. We cant fix the global drug, mental health, or homeless problem of this country from here. Many if not most of these people are flocking here from other states due to how distracted, overloaded, and lenient we are. Our job is to arrest people that violate drug laws, we baker act the mentally ill, we marchman the addicts, (and thats only if they are a danger to their selves or others), and we follow tresspas steps on the homeless (aka the addicts and mentalky ill). That is all we are designed to do. All these extra functions and PR garbage smoke and mirror games they make play are a waste. Cops get in trouble mostly when they overstep their boundaries and try to play hero, yet its our own agency that puts us in those situations in the first place. Put it back on the actual government. We need to stop picking up the slack of other agencies and state government that dump global problems on us. We need to stop ALLOWING ourselves to be made the scapegoats for everyones issues. Issues people CHOSE to get themselves into. We need to stop enabling learned helplessness. We need to teach accountability and stop running to every little problem anyone has. Problems they caused themselves by the lives they chose to live. Drug dealer gets robbed? We dont take that case. Unlocked vehicle burglary? We dont take that case. House under construction with no doors, yet $10,000 of appliances inside unsecured got stolen? NO CASE! NO REPORT. We need a sheriff that has nothing to do with the current command staff or politics. We need a down to earth common sense thinker that wont make us spin our wheels on pointless tasks. Not an out of the box thinker. Nothing fancy or special. Someone who sticks to the CORE BASICS of police work and cuts out all the Fat. Pruit, or anyone other than within. We are meant to handle things situationally, not globally. That is why CRIT was a waste of time failure. Major problems start with bad parents, crappy schools, garbage people reproducing, and so on... It cant be fixed 20, 30 years later by cops. We can not fix defective people. Just deal with them situationally. We need a sherrif that is fully aware of our function. In the end, when we try to help people with problems that we should not be involved in and fail, we get ridiculed on the media and unsupported by the same ungreatful people we tried to help. The same people that refuse to have jobs, make bad choices, and demand that portions of our paychecks go to feeding them to sustain their garbage lifestyles. TIME TO WAKE UP THE LAW ENFORCEMENT FIELD in general with a real sheriff who understands this. Not a politician.
A sheriff that has nothing to do with politics. Are you joking or did you suffer a stroke? The sheriff is a political position, stupid.
