    Interim Chief Morales

Contrary to his reiterated word to then Mayor Yates and I, to not have a Chief with out the education and experience, Pete Lear has made Morales your Interim Chief.

This was the plan all along. The police chief search was a smokescreen. Lear had no intention of hiring an outside chief. His personal friendship with Morales is apparent and Vespia and the mayor are co conspirators. After a few months Lear will announce that Morales has done such a good job he will be keeping him on in a permanent capacity. Good luck to the PD. You are going to need it.

I am assuming his education is far from what is needed. I agree this was the plan from the start. Never trust politicians. Lear being one of them. What a shame. Get ready the lawsuits and shame on this department will continue

This is such an injustice to the taxpayers and citizens of NP. Lear is clearly incompetent and needs to go. His announcement comes at the end of the business day when no one can question him about it. Commissioner VC was behind this from the start, Morales has always been her pick. This coming election we need to vote out Lukes who is VC cronie and vote in only commissioners who want to effect change and only when we have the sensible not self serving commissioners we will again have the majority, then and only then will changes occur. VC and Lear fleeced the taxpayers out of the 17 grand chief search knowing all the way Morales was there choice. Well Morales was in a command position when all this crap occurred and did nothing to stop it. Things will not change. So now we know why Pelfrey was suspended one day before Morales was named. This is a travesty. I am no Pelfrey fan but this is down right dirty politics at its best. Morales does not meet the educational requirement even in an interim position, His experience is certainly questionable. Things might have not gotten worse, but they certainly have not improved. Same sh!t different name..........

First and foremost I would like to say that this is tacky. By taking this position which he has not earned Morales will truly never feel right as a leader. He did not earn this place and he is not deserving of it.

What needs to be done to file a complaint against Peter Lear for theft of the tax dollars that he stole from the city to fake the search for the new chief? Can a complaint be filed and can a citizen file the complaint with the commission? I would say that fraud is the first thing that comes to mind. I think that Peter Lear has committed a crime. He needs to disclose what led him to refuse each candidate for the chief's job.

Will the commission open an investigation into the spending of those dollars?

Jill Lukes and VC need to go. We were trying to make great changes to this city and now we have gone backwards.

Can anyone please advise what education Morales has for certain? FBI academy does not mean shit. That is dumb and we all know it. That use to be a thing ten years ago but now nobody cares. The FBI fuc* up more stuff then the Wendy's Drive Through. Jill Lukes must go unless she openly supports a new chief.

All this going on here and we cannot even get the city to give us an offer that corrects the pay problem. We are still going to be underpaid. We will never keep people, we will always be that screwed up department that Vespia destroyed. When will City Hall open their eyes and see that we are in such dire shape. When will they actually realize that we need to get a step plan back? It is getting old listening to the city team telling us that we should not ever want top pay and that we should just take what they are offering. Looks like it may be time to look somewhere else.

Stephanie please do a PR request to see the evaluations forms the assessors did on the "rejected" candidates. Did the candidates rate favorable by the evaluating chiefs and state attorney? I bet they did. And what was it about them that caused the CM to not select any of them? There was no explanation given. This is so transparent!!! No decent future chiefs candidate will ever apply here after they see what happened to the last 4 that applied. They will stay far away from NPPD. This will effect us for years to come. I think he didn't want an outside chief because an outsider would clean house and hold them accountable. We could have had a new chief by now!!!! WTH......

Now that Morales has been named interim, we have to look at some possible positives:

    A. He has insight as to what it's like to work as a cop on the street and detectives where his predecessor played with
    computers to obtain his position.

    B. He is very capable of mending the relationship nightmares that Vespia caused with surrounding agency heads.

    C. He has the ability, as long as he realizes that he doesn't have to continue leading using Vespia's style of leadership, to be
his own man and change the culture and morale of this depleted department.

Unlike Vespia, who claimed to be (chuckle chuckle) working on his master's degree, Chris is actually working on his Bachelor's and should have it soon. I say to all of you to give this a chance and let's see if he can be his own man and start turning this department into what it once was.
