Setting the Tone Attitude is correct..

but unfortunately when you have bosses that have absolutely no idea how to handle these situations its up to the City Officials to get someone in charge that knows what the hell they are doing. Oates is 100% Out of Touch with Reality. Oates lives in his own world. All these dangerous issues this past week for Spring Break could've of been handled 100% better. The beach was one huge marijuana party... people drinking booze everywhere .. on the beach.. from the trunks of their parks autos .. just walking the streets smoking and drinking. We are yelled at for not wearing the proper baseball hat while the city gets destroyed..made to enforce illegal Pizza Sales on the Beach.. Illegal Vendors on the beach while Drugs are EVERYWHERE.. Prostitutes and Their Pimps are on every street conducting business.. Drug Sales are OUT OF CONTROL IN PLAIN VIEW... Chief's idea.."Let the weed violations go..dont bother with that but make sure you are wearing the approved Baseball Cap or else !!!" ... Well, Congrats Chief (and I use the term Chief very lightly.. Cause you ARE FAR FROM A LEADER) you destroyed Miami Beach and our Police Dept. MBPD morale is lower today then it has ever been in its history. Being a Police Officer in todays time is hard enough add in a desastrious out of touch command staff it is a recipe for disaster and failure. Our Reputation that was once known as a Zero Tolerance Police Dept is now the laughing stock of South Florida... With MDW soon approaching this will be the Nail in Miami Beaches Coffin. WE NEED A NEW LEADER !!! This Department will NEVER RECOVER from the Damage Oates has caused.

“Set the tone” wasn’t the only thing our bosses use to say. I remember words like “take no crap or another officer will have to deal with it” and there was a time we made thousands of arrests during these events. Or captains and majors actually with the troops making arrests themselves and not panicking over the simpliest things. Criminals were scared of us, now they laugh at us. I’m relatively new here, less than 6 years but I’ll take the bosses before Oatees over the clowns we have in charge. Our command staff are a bunch of postalitas.

They can add all the officers they want. Alpha/Bravo, mutilual aid, etc. nothing will change when you have an Organization that has no confidence.

This Chief has been a trainwreck from the first day. The MM showcase, the email dog and pony show, removing off-duty, Marijuana Ordinance, not shooting and then shooting at cars, hat, cameras on Ocean Drive, hat, no badge at a national press conference, hat, taser policy change during the middle of a lawsuit, hat.

But Morales will make no decision (even though he is the head dude) until he has 4 votes I. The dais. We need new leadership not a political clueless puppet that couldn’t spot a criminal inside TGK.
