The Sarasota Herald-Tribune never did a follow-up story on whether the police chiefs signed the document. Here is one of their first articles on Knight's revocation of municipal deputations of city officers:

The Surrounding Sheriffs have. I know Deputies in surrounding counties that have been deputized. So Its not as big a deal as your making it out to be.

Active shooters in knightmares
Tom Knight is the only one who made a big deal out of it when he revoked the deputization of all city police officers. No other sheriff in Florida did that. Knight's actions were unprecedented -- and unwarranted. Subsequently, Knight will never deputize school employees to fight active-shooters in Sarasota County schools. Conversely, deputizing volunteer school employees (who can pass training and screening) is an outstanding low-cost first line of defense against active shooters.

Sheriff Grady Judd v. Mr. Tom Knight
Sheriff Grady Judd v. Mr. Tom Knight
When it comes to Knight's refusal to deputize school employees, to defend kids against active shooters, he is an elite socialist.
Sheriff Grady Judd has it right. When Sheriff Judd deputizes a school employee, they are statutorily granted the legal right to carry a gun in school, to fight against active schooers, to act on behalf of the people and the government, exactly the way the Constitution says:
- Of the people
- By the people
- For the people
In our Constitutional Republic, the people ARE the government! Knight doesn't practice that. Elitists socialists operate this way:
- The elite rule the people
- For themselves
- On behalf of the government
Knight refuses to deputize school employees.
Knight wants CCW permits in schools (which is illegal).
Sheriff Judd's plan to protect children can be implemented now, effective immediately.
Mr. Knight's plan to protect children cannot be implemented because it is illegal.
Knight's inaction speaks volumes.

Arming teachers is NOT the answer. Will the teachers be able to wear that firearm at all times or will it be required to be locked up somewhere? Teachers have a tough enough job already and don't need the added stress of carrying a firearm and the associated training and liabilities that go along with it. There is no definitive answer short of making the schools a prison atmosphere with perimeter fencing, LEO's at any entry point along the perimeter, single entry point with metal detectors and ID's for anyone on campus. Even if that were to happen what would stop a psycho from sitting in a car outside the school and just waiting until release time to open up on the kids leaving. Contrary to popular belief security is just a figment of the imagination.

Here are the FACTS
1. Florida law doesn’t allow you to carry a gun on school property unless you are a law enforcement member.
2. Sheriff Grady Judd gets around that law by making school employees “special deputies”
