    Pilot position

Why are they still advertising this position? Why aren't they filling the position with any of the qualified Deputies who have applied?

HERE WE GO AGAIN! I guess those qualified Deputies are not connected.

The position opening is a formality. To make it look fair. End the end..... you are correct. Reserved positions for the special ones.

The Sheriff just swore in 2 pilots "who flew Blackhawks in the military." I guess "loyalty" (which is demanded by our agency) was not extended to our own deputies who were qualified for the pilot position.

Why should we "be loyal to this office" if it has demonstrated time, and time again, that it is not loyal to us? Sheriff, can you please answer this question?

The few deputies, or deputy, with a private fixed wing pilot license, is not the sufficient qualification to fly helicopters with night vision. That consists of many more hours of training and then experience to be proficient. Taking that into account, does the agency want to pay for the training and hope the experience follows, or hire already trained, qualified, and experienced "plug and play" pilots?

With that said, feel free to complain about how fast the retired DEA agent on his "Second tour of duty with HCSO" is promoted to major.

If I’m correct, the former Blackhawk pilot is a very capable street deputy that is more than qualified for the position. Relax disgruntled employee, the Illuminati is not always shot calling.

David Gee was trained similarly on the office's dime, during the office's time. There's no reason why the office couldn't do the same for our deputies.

"Oh but he was the Sheriff..."

Yeah, and we are "Hillsborough County Sheriff's Deputies, the best, of the best, of the best!" (except for when the office has to actually treat us like the we are the best, of the best, of the best). Thanks again CC for proving to us that you have no loyalty to your hard working, and well deserving deputies. You're a hypocrite.

If so, here's the problem. Our deputies have shown their loyalty to the office by applying here, and staying here, year after year, even after little or no advancement. And the office repays our loyalty by giving yet another desired specialty position, to someone who hasn't shown loyalty to the office. Instead the office hires someone(s) outside the office, who worked for other agencies that obviously gave them chances/advancement. Yet our deputies, who've remained loyal our office, can't get any chances from our office!

Ive said it before, CC ran HSD into the ground which is where avaition is located. That unit is in complete turmoil with multiple pilots leaving or looking to leave. They dont even have a sergeant running the unit. Then you got that acting moron running HSD its know wonder. K9 is just as bad with the bs the Sergeant throws at them. Dude not even a certified K9 handler. Marine unit had multiple people leave as well as ag n enviromental. They run HSD like a political campaign. Look at SWAT who finished close to the bottom during the SWAT roundup up. We use to be one of top units in the country but not anymore. I know of two great deputies qualified for the pilot position but they dont run in the political realm so they dont stand a chance.

Why all of a sudden are they looking for prior experience with helo's? There is only two pilot's at aviation (Before these two that are in the system) who had prior helo experience.... It does send a signal to newer road Dep's that they will never make the avaition unit... And they are also finding out that it is difficult to get into other specialty units (as well as becoming a supervisor), unless they have a Major or above pulling for them...

    Yes.

However, sometime even having a Major ....or "THE" Colonel... pulling for deputies not in the political "in" group, isn't enough to get these deputies the position. The Sheriff and the Chief have often said, "No, I want so and so to get the position."

I can name a few well qualified, seasoned deputies that have had Majors and Colonels, whom they used to work under before they were that high up, pulling for them but the Chief and Sheriff filled the positions by repaying favors.

Hard work gets you NOWHERE here! Staying out of trouble get you NOWHERE here! Refusing to abuse sick time gets you NOWHERE here! Sound decision making gets you NOWHERE here. I could go on, and on, and on...
