On the surface it may seem so, but there may be a more sinister reason for such mayoral veto. The Civilian Oversight Board (COB) would have had the power to investigate "all" police malversation and public corruption would be central in such pursuits. A "rat" snared in such probe would be wise to share what it knows with inquiring minds beyond the COB, no? "Scalping" a major political figure would be a significant coup for the COB, no? Had the COB benefited Gimenez or his planned heir apparent, Hialeah's "Fraudulent Ballot Master" Bovo, Gimenez would've endorse it. For now be glad this turned out as it did, but don't assume the COB will go away; no, its proponents will not relent.

John was so out of touch he had no idea it had been brought back, OR he didn’t care enough to attend the many meetings they had to stop it from going to the full board. It did not affect HIM, Pablo, Fuste or Blanca’s husband since NONE of them worked for the county any longer, they didn’t even know what was happening at the 111 building. Move on John, stop living in the past and in YOUR dream world, there really is life after PBA and Wanda has much more to offer than Blanca!

And the rest of the story
Once upon a time, under Rivera’s term he went, along with PBA attorneys led by Blanca to a place called Tallahassee Florida. There they were able to pass a law that prohibits any civilian panel ( not matter what it’s called) from having subpoena power THUS removing any teeth it may have once had.
As a result they call empanel a million panels and they have no teeth and basically powerless. Once again Rivera was ahead of his time being able to prepare for the future (our future).
Steadman Stahl wouldn’t know that because he hasn’t been involved and more importantly hasn’t been in Tallahassee the last 8 years. How could he possibly know that law.
Ps. When using pictures of cops with a listing of agencies that already investigate cops do yourselves a favor and read the content. Some of those things no longer exist. But I bet it’s still flattering the Rivera that you use his creations.

EXACTLY! The mayor can and will support a Civilian review panel but wants the appointees to be selected differently. It’s not that he’s totally against the panel in its entirety. Boy are we in deep 5hit when our PBA leaders don’t have basic reading comprehension skills.
