    Where was SRO?

BSO owes it to the families. They need to explain where was the SRO at in the second largest school in the county when the shooting took place. It doesn’t matter if the SRO would have or possibly could have helped. the fact NONE was on campus period. Being short staffed, or day off, or training is not an excuse and they need to explain to the families WHY.

You know BSO waste tax payers money just look at the top heavy brass we have. Does anyone remember Cooper City mayor asking sheriff why are you so top heavy and he just sat there speechless? I bet we could hire a lot more SRO and deputies if we got rid of the fat on top. Most of the LT’s and above do nothing but walk around trying to screw the deputies that actually do the work. Cut the waste and hire more real workers but he won’t because a lot of his ft Lauderdale friends and political friends are more important. And you know that’s the truth. And your right he owes the families a valid excuse not tax payers need to give us more money a REAL excuse.

Have you ever worked on a school campus? Better yet have ever been on a school campus? How do you know if he was or wasn’t on school campus. Were you there? Apparently, if you were there at the school not standing in the perimeter handing out water or sandwiches you would know the answer to your ignorant statement.

    SRO not in town

This is indeed a question that needs to be answered because there’s two of them dedicated to that school where were they? Obviously they were nowhere to be found because they did not engage anything, LEO’s now all trained to go toward a threat immediately first one on scene! where were the SROs? It’s a very valid question that has yet to be answered, perhaps were all missing something and it’s just a minor detail who knows...

How about until we know for sure what happened we stop spreading rumors and making it worse for the families of the victims. All you're doing is feeding the media information to spread and confront the victim's families with and just like them you don't know if it's true or not. The media has done enough damage by releasing the names of victims, by stalking social media post, before BSO contacted all the families. By the way, thank you Miami Harold for that garbage. So how about for once we think of others instead of focusing on blaming someone. They're will be plenty of time later for the blame game.

Remember we once were trained to go in and stop the active shooter. Those were the police work days. Now we are trained to hold the perimeter and wait for SWAT. We learned nothing from Columbine except history will repeat itself. Our leaders looked so out of place handling the media.

That’s completely false. 20 years ago we were taught containment. 5-15 years ago we were taught go in with a “diamond” team of four. We are now being taught respond to the threat, even if by yourself. They teach us “what if it was your kid?” They are correct! This is one of the few times where we have to greenlight to go in and do some hero shit!

Not every resident of Parkland is a left wing idiot waving a Gun Control sign.

Well, here we are. So much for the campaign crap about second chances for juvenile offenders; and leaving it up to the Broward County Schools to "police" our youth. In fact, let's assign ONE deputy in the DROP to assure the safety of over 3,000 children; including children with chronic mental illness.

Coast to retirement and take all the time you need at Salad Pita cafe, sitting in the waiting area of the Hair Cuttery, or discussing golf with the school staff. No worries, Parkland, Weston, ... nothing ever happens .....

There was a post on this sight a while back about coddling juvenile offenders.

    The response? Crickets.

For hours, our kids were left dead and alone on the cold floor of this crime scene; where WE, their parents dropped them off that morning. We drove them to the place where they would die. It was Valentine's Day. Only some of us took the time to say " I love you" for the very last time.

FYI: Broward County Public Schools dumps their mentally ill children in schools around this county in the same way that a BSO deputy is humiliated and dumped in an undesirable district on midnights for disciplinary reasons; or maybe, just a perceived slight. Westglades Middle School ESE, in particular, has a long history of abruptly ripping away the support services of mentally ill children; who then quickly unravel. Cruz was just one more example of their neglect.

Get access. Read the juvenile police reports from Parkland for the past few years. There are some fine examples of creative writing with a great deal of collaborative " input" from a school principal- who was also in the DROP.

Would a SRD with 33 years of service and a fat DROP payout on the way consciously decide not to engage? Let's give the benefit of the doubt; for now, and hope and pray that this is not the case.

The administration sets the tone and creates the culture of your agency. IF it is true that the coddled, connected, ineffective, past their prime, etc. are the "protectors" of our children, exactly WHO approved these assignments?

What can we do to elevate the status of a SRD? If wearing a swat style uniform and driving a tank would make this position attractive for the level of security that is needed, by all means, reach out to the parents of Parkland. We will fund it in a heartbeat. Send us your best. These are our children.

With regard to last Wednesday, Valentine's Day, at Douglas, we witnessed the absolute best of professionalism and service. There are many systemic problems, but there is one thing for sure: These problems were not created by those who responded to do what you all do so well. Please know that as we prayed for our kids, we prayed for you, and your families as well.

    Thank you. Be safe.

I hope this is not true, and the first deputies on scene went in to hunt the killer. If not somebody has some explaining to do to the families of the victims.
