The homicide that didn't have to happen, #safermiamibeach

Espinola way.... potential career criminals out hunting looking for tourists, and residents to prey on . A few years ago those same vicious evil scumbags would avoid Miami Beach completely , society has not changed however your police department has. The murder of this kid is an unsessary outrage. What will it take for our city government to make the appropriate change in the lack of real leadership to allow the culture of the police to come back and take our streets back for our residents? So will real change only happen when commission members family gets victimized (G'd forbid ) by this culture of criminal free for all we are trying to live with? Things are getting more violent and more brazen, the criminals don't fear or respect our now watered down and brow beaten police , can we stop this bad movie and start a new one by changing it out completely? Why are we paying huge tax dollars to be victims ? I love our Fire and Police can we please let them be police and firefighters again ? My family will not walk the streets we live in any longer , and that's NOT okay . DOES ANY ONE HAVE A SOLUTION TO THE ABOVE PLEASE ? #safermiamibeach

The Citizens of Miami Beach are screwed.. Our Command Staff is useless. Hence the lack of Morale amongst the officers. Do little as possible due to the fear of getting thrown under the bus by your own "bosses" and have no support from the Upper Ranks and City Hall, and I use the term Bosses very lightly. The Miami Beach PD had (A LONG TIME AGO) an amazing reputation of taking care of the Beach. Criminals didnt even think to come here without having a very bad day. The criminals stayed in the inner city.. Fast Forward to today.. We opened the Pandora's Box of the CRIMINAL ELEMENT to have their way in our once great City... We have had more Homicides / Shootings / Stabbings .. then ever before under Oates's watch. We have spiraled downward and lost our beach to the Criminals. How does one fix this ..? Well you must start at the TOP and work your way Down... You have a Clueless Chief who hires his NYPD Friends who once here will also be CLUELESS and Hiring his buddy from NY ignoring every Hiring Rule the Chief set forth himself .. its ok for him to not follow his own rules but everyone else must. If you have no faith in your own department to promote from within, how do you expect the officers to feel. You just took the biggest crap on us... Promotions that were supposed to be, are no longer as the Chief threw a monkey wrench into the promotion ladder for many waiting and anticipating their promotions only to be told it will not be happening anytime soon due to his Buddy NYPD Pulaski with the Pending Lawsuits he currently has from the last Depts he screwed up in. To the Citizens of Miami Beach .. Go out and get your Concealed Weapons Permit & Buy and Carry a Gun. This gun will be the best protection for you if you are visiting or living in Miami Beach. The Police can not be everywhere all the time. Protect yourself cause the beach has been taken over by the criminals and from the looks of it they are going to be here for as long as the current command staff is here.

This chief says crime is down, just walk Ocean, Washington or Collins at 11p and you be the judge of crime is down. All the good residents and good tourist are gone. It is now gangster, doper and hooker city.

The commission should get rid of the entire command staff and let MBPD get absorbed by the county. Make it the Beach District Station run by a county major. Save millions of tax payer $, huge resources become available, and they can’t be worse than the clowns running the department now.

The truth is that pro active police work is ugly at best. Try going out and policing the way it used to be done when crime was down. You will be told to go FOOOck yourself with a cell phone in your face. You will be hung out to dry by the administration. no one is willing to risk their career and how can you blame them. The worst part is the criminal element know this and take advantage of it.

What you see happening is nothing new. look at every major city in the US that implements left wing ideology. They all suffer greatly. The answer is obvious. It's called white flight. Good luck.

I’m not a beach PO, I’m with another local agency. However, I remember in the 90s how Beach PD was not a Department you’d want to mess with. Anyone gets out of line, it’s 09-39. Memorial Day weekend would come around and it would be kick azz and take names! Oh and on top of all that, your chief Barretto, Noriega, Donnie Delucca were respected by all the other chiefs in the county. This guy y’all got is the laughing stock of Miami Dade IACP.

I think Beach PD will have better days once the chief retires. Depending on who replaces him. Beach PD certainly has the potential to be the great department that I at least witnessed long ago.

Morales is out. Oates contract will expire. And then we can begin to get back to what we use to be. Citizens don’t know what the crime rate is. That’s only something that a chief pays attention to. What they do look at is what they perceive to be a crime infested SOBE where you can’t even bar hop without getting killed.

    But let’s recap:

    -Don’t shoot at cars
-Letter to SAO calling you a liar
-Removes off duty from ocean with no plan
-Marijuana Ord that caused a drug war
-Cameras that shut down ALL proactive police work

So he can keep saying that crime is down all he wants. The “Cops” know it’s not. The Business owners know it’s not. The Tourists don’t feel safe. He is an overpaid clown that needs to go.
