You idiots that post these negative things on here about not being real cops ( the St. Pete officers that post here and think they are guaranteed the same pay raises and benefits as working at the Tampa main campus, or just anonymous posters/harassers posting), don't realize without the Chief's efforts on the nice pay raises, you would be retiring on about $35K a year after a long career worked here. Be happy about your job.

Hey we can use our raises to buy that pool table for sale, in the email, sent to an entire law enforcement agency.

Did your "friend" tell you how they, as brand new officers walked around here thinking their s##t didn't stink and pissed off almost everyone who came in contact with them?
Your friend should thank the Chief for actually allowing them to get as far as a swearing in ceremony.

Really? You are either very young here, or a liar. We had a chief here who got raises for us almost every year he was here, his name was Longo. PBA liked him big. He also got us the take home cars, tons of equipment, and started TRT. Nobody before Longo tried to get us anything, and Withrow who was just given the job after him did nothing either. Daniel might be good at getting raises for us, but his mentor did it first so give credit where it is due. Fair is fair.

Longo did get us take home cars, but he was a very self serving Chief and out for himself. He was one of the worst leaders that I have ever worked for. I would like to know the stats of the place he is working at now, and how many people have been fired or put under an investigation of some type. He was a power hungry boy scout. Withrow was handed the job and was worthless, he was just trying to get his time in to retire. Johnson was the same, and even worse about taking care of the officers. He found pride in returning money back to the University and sure as heck wouldn't try to give the worker a pay raise, just to make himself look good to the university as a good leader. You officers would be retiring on $35K a year if it wasn't for Chief Daniel. One benefit Daniel does have above the other Chief's is a VP that supports cops. None of the other VP's in the history of this university has ever done. We are just now finding out how important police are on school campuses for safety and security. Things are on the up and up for an officer working this job today. Be happy and thankful about your career here.

The Chiefs prior to Daniel and Longo were just puppets on a string who catered to the whims of administrative PHD's who didn't have a clue or much of a concern about Law Enforcement. Things started changing from a security mentality to a law enforcement mentality once Longo arrived. No matter what your opinion of him is or was, he made some positive changes in the right direction. Last I checked, he is a police chief up north. Despite his personality and leadership shortcomings, he has a way of finding success around every corner.

Tom is the Assistant Chief (Policy and Planning) at a different UPD; he was the interim Chief there when he left here.
