Exclamation FHP Recruiting To Fill Local Need For Troopers

    http://wuwf.org/post/fhp-recruiting-...-need-troopers

They finally address the Pensacola district being severely understaffed. Interesting that FHP is shifting their focus on recruiting troopers in local areas.

    Recruiting BS

I clicked on the link and read the story....Planes??? There are no FHP planes in the NW region!!!!! There are no pilots that would want to work for the people in charge in Troop A. Also there is no recruiter in Troop A either. I know they have someone assigned to Panama City who is supposed to be a recruiter, but he is worthless!!!

No one is ever hired from Northwest Florida. If your a deputy and have ever raised your voice need not apply. If your a citizen and your third cousin ever smoked a few joints need not apply.

However, if you have zero life experience and you are scared of a nat fart then you have a pretty good chance.

We had Crown Vic's with low mileage that had Vector light bars. Middleburg had light bars from DOT cars that were put out of service so we had the Vectors taken off and the DOT lights put on. Then we gave the Crown Vic's with low mileage to the new troopers.

Why on earth would you put forth those requirements? Who the F wants to waste time and money on college to join FHP and write tickets/work wrecks. In addition, if they have a prior of 1-year in LE then they will realize how much greener the grass is on the other side.

PLUS the reserves are too strongest as well. It's a PITA to just VOLUNTEER with FHP. What a complete s*** show.

Overall, not a bad strategy to emphasize recruiting in the most under-staffed areas, as you're more likely to get applicants who want to stay where they're from.

That being said, watch the number of applicants from the panhandle drop in half once they're told they have to drive 12 hours to Miami to take the psych eval and then spend six-plus months in Tallahassee for the academy (hint: the applicants who already have families don't want to do that...).

Solution: Hire locally and sponsor them through the closest local community college BLE academy (no room and board cost for FHP, only salary and benefits, which they'd collect anyhow), then bring them to Tallahassee for the FHP-specific parts of the academy (1-2 months or so) - essentially a TRC. Then ship them back home for field training.

Normally I would say Fuc that. These new generation of Cops feel entitled, need to be babied, get easily offended, need to work day shift with weekends off etc.....but since we are dier need of people on the road we might just have to baby them as much as we can if it means they’ll work for us

This is entirely feasible and would probably work quite well for all of the above reasons cited. Thank you. For once someone with some gray matter and maturity weighing-in!
